@nightshot999 He does, and he is. I think of all his signature items, his sticks are the things he uses ALL the time. He doesn't always use his sand ride, or his snare. I think he uses his sand hats and trash hats 99 percent of the time, but his sticks he always uses.

@aostereo Gavin is one of my favorites, along with Porcupine Tree being one of my favorite bands, Gavin really came out full force on the last two Porcupine Tree records (especially the groove from Bonnie the Cat). Something I try to do with my drumming is combine Gavin's concepts with Danny's and I've managed to combine some of Benny's concepts with Danny's...but now you've got me thinking about combining Gavin's ideas with Benny's...I'll have to get back to you on that one

@doomedelk my two cents are that both are among the top all around drummers in the world. they both have filthy groove. i would also have a hard time finding any criteria by witch to compare these two drummers. i guess i feel that they both have different grove styles and benny's might be slightly more subtle and involved. they are both wizards any way. that being said these guys have released what i feel are the two most important drum dvds in existence.

He sounds so much better with all the dry cymbals. The Sand Ride and that 18" crash over the snare are money. I watched an older vid when he had a lot of bright cymbals and it put me off a bit. If I could pick one company to be in my corner it would be Meinl and I don't even have any of their stuff.

I saw Benny at a clinic a while back, I really have to say, the only other drummer on the same plane as him is Danny Carey, to me, these two guys are the sultans of their craft, no one plays like them

I have the Modern Drummer 2010 dvd, and the other parts of his solo are soooooo much better. Like when he plays with his hands and junk. He uses every possible sound on his drum kit that he can find. He even hits the drums together. He's soooo badass and creative. Im sorry Tommy Pridgen...... i have a new favorite drummer.

Has Benny ever said he's been influenced by Thomas Pridgen or something? Because right at 1:01, it's like a pretty close variation to what Thomas Pridgen played at the beginning of his Solo Preview for Drum Channel in 2008.
