Been following you for a while now but I just saw this video. Dawn, you’re one of my favorite KZbinr’s! I grew up in Upstate NY but have lived in Morris County NJ for 20+ years. It took me quite a while to get used to NJ stores and I LOVE that you owned that you could have behaved better with no excuses. It shows what a top notch person you are! I myself have not been perfect and I hope I owned up to things as bravely as you did. My new motto is: it doesn’t make your day better to make someone’s else’s day harder. Be proud that you realized that you could have been better. That is an incredible feat.

As an empath, I try so hard to be super nice to everyone no matter what, but sometimes...😬 I know I've said hurtful things (I'm notoriously sarcastic and it can get me in trouble) and I always feel horrible after, even if they are nasty first. I've learned to just forgive myself and move on. If I can apologize, I do, but that sometimes is not an option. As for the haul, you got some great stuff! I had to laugh when you took that second necklace off of the torso (the one with the lucite/gold foil beads) because I realized I have the same one about 6 feet away on my dresser. It's so pretty!

Because of thieves, jewelry shopping can be made stressful with how we get treated at the counter. I had a regail shop with jewelry, so I understand both sides. I caught thieves many times. It makes you hard on everyone. So sorry for your experience.

Hi I just watched this. Going to watch again because I was driving and listening really. I know how you feel about confronting someone. Quite often those types of people intentionally target and provoke confrontations and they do know how to trip on decent folk. I have learned to avoid eye contact and block their invasive vampiric energy. Easier said than done. They look to derail happy preoccupied good people.... Just the way pick pockets and cons work. You're doing a lot of good Lady. You are helping me to pursue a dream I have had for thirty plus years. You are doing the footwork, time, study, and research for people busy making a living in other occupations that love the collectibles you are sourcing out. This brings joy and peace to many. Gems and jewels carry high frequency and it's Mother Earth's and the Gods and Goddesses gifts to us. Gems and crystals and metals and art are good. Tis an art and labour of LOVE. Yes, of course, there are those less fortunate and there is good and bad in every crowd. Some of those types are just evil nasty and wouldnt think twice about sticking a knife in your back literally so this is another reason to keep aware, avoid eye contact and keep out of the poo pile. Works with road ragers too. Keep u😊p the excellent work and thank you for all you do.

We are living in a very stressful time, people are struggling, I cut way back on buying jewelry and unnecessary things, it is hard because I saw a jewelry casket at an antique mall I want so bad, I had to leave it behind. Don't beat yourself up, you look very upset and even in the video before your jewelry auction you looked like you're dealing with something. I hope you're ok, we all snap at some point, even though it might have been her fault maybe take a card of encouragement to her the next time you go back. Things will get better, love the pieces you picked up 💞

Those coins, and that lucite - I'm a sucker for well-designed lucite and I LOVE coin jewelry!! Score! Don't feel bad. It's hard when you receive not-so great customer service, when all you have is good intentions. We all model back not-so great behavior sometimes, thats normal human behavior. Acknowledging it is hard, but it is so much better than staying angry so you can feel justified for your part in the interaction. Good on ya, Dawn, for the acknowledgement and being real with us! I have to hold back my excitement when I get to the cases, so I don't seem aggressive. I'm really just excited, and have a voracious appetite for great pieces at great prices. Its the hunt mentality that gets me revved up and I want to go fast see it all right now! You seem so calm, I don't know how you do it!

Hi Dawn, i have been watching all of your videos. Three things, my mouth has got me in trouble more times than I can count. We all make mistakes, but its how you handle them afterwards that counts. Two, i have been to Wildwood. I took my youngest sister to play in a marble tournament. Loved New Jersey, Cape Cod, etc. Three, how do you price something that someone clearly made? Ex: Murano wedding beads, crystal and turquoise, then more hand painted beads, ect....., I dont like to ask questions, but i have never heard anyone address something like this. I wish you well, keep the videos coming, don't be so hard on yourself. 😉

Hi Dawn, I know others have already said some encouraging things to you, but I would also add that it is a person's job to deliver positive customer service. The employee was out of line if she was snappish. I've worked in CS and no matter what, you don't pass on anything negative to the customer. I've been in that position before and knew how I treated my customer was first priority. I can hurt with my mouth too, so I completely understand what you mean when you said that. Just continue being you and treating people the way you have always. Your heart is in the right place, that's what's most important😊.

Hi, how do you search the stores that you'd like to visit? Do you search by "vintage" and "jewelry" etc? I live in Canada but usually go to Buffalo for jewelry hunting. The majority of the stuff in the stores that I visited were not vintage jewelry, they were usually furniture and clothes etc.

Don't really understand the word privilege. If when you go out and sincerely conduct yourself with kindness, grace, humility, and awareness of the status of others (and respect their space) privilege should not be an issue. My mother always placed emphasis on treating others as you would want to be treated. If that doesn't work keep quiet or walk away before you respond. Sadly I think people are just primed "to engage" these days.

Chin up, we have all had some toxic interactions in this reselling world. I know I have had my less than WWJD moments (ha!). Some (many) resellers and thrifters , ESPECIALLY IN JEWELRY, are very rude, pushy and grabby. This clerk could have had some experiences like this so they are on defense. Then some clerks start to internally panic you're getting a secret deal they dont know about..... add that to the fact you are in the store filming your haul on your phone (some people do NOT like this ) and having a fun day out. So, you could have been totally innocent but they're bringing all THAT to the interaction. The only power they have is to serve a bit of 'tude . Take good care of yourself, you will do better next time! If you are up for some "deep" work on it, try out the Byron Katie Judge Your Neighbor Worksheet. It aint for the faint of heart, but sometimes can help process weird blips like this. Sending sparkly hugs!
