I have seen these done and they are lovely. It is also a way of saving a cameo that had been chipped or broken on the sides, have the profile cut out and reset.

I read online they should be washed with lukewarm water and hydrates with baby oil. Is this the right way to go? I have received an antique cameo and would like to make sure I treat it right! Absolutely loved this video on cameos. Maria is certainly a font of knowledge and has collected some incredible pieces. I have a beautiful cameo of a woman with a leopard on her head that looks like her hair in portrait, but when you look at it horizontally you can see the leopards head, I just love it but can’t find anything about it in my research.
