Today's woke culture would call this video, ethnic "misappropriation". Many of the dancers are not Polynesian, that's for sure.

French Polynesia is a cultural melting pot and there is a strong French influence on these islands. If a non-Polynesian person was born and raised in French Polynesia (whether of Asian, African, European, Latin American descent etc), or if a non-Polynesian person from overseas fell in love with Ori Tahiti dancing and French Polynesian cultures and societies and they genuinely live it and breathe it within every fiber of their soul, I wouldn't have any issue with it, this is just my opinion.

There was a period in time when the Ori Tahiti dance was banned by Christian missionaries back in the day. I'm just glad this dance was some how kept alive. There are now Ori Tahiti dance studios and classes in different countries around the world e.g. Mexico, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, France etc ...

you have no idea what misappropriation or woke is. Misappropriation would be when people who aren't Poly throw a "luau" and use symbols of a culture they know nothing about to wear grass skirts and roast pigs on a spit. This group is founded and taught by someone of Poly descent, has Poly dancers, and the band is Nonosina, a Polynesian group.
