Huffy Torex UTV - Throttle Repair

Watch me fix a Huffy Torex UTV by soldering a broken connection at the foot throttle. If your throttle connections check out OK, your motor controller may be the problem.

Hi! I am not sure if you can help me, but my sons be Torex is making a knocking noise when he’s in forward and reverse. I’ve looked underneath it, and I don’t see anything that would be making that noise. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi there, just got one for our grandson and the battery only lasted about 25 minutes and about 15 minutes on the second charge, is yours the same?

There is another video uploaded about a year ago, claiming that the throttle sometimes activated without anyone pressing the foot pedal, and Huffy notified a number of people and provided a phone number to somehow fix the problem, presumably by shipping new working throttle units but the warning videos don't explain what the "fix" was. You didn't mention that Huffy recall, and what you found, a broken connection, wouldn't result in unintended movement. Does all this ring a bell?

Ours had a similar issue a few months ago, which is a separate problem than described in this video. The UTV would continue to drive for a couple seconds after you removed any input from the foot pedal. The recall is on the controller, not the food pedal. I contacted Huffy here: www.huffybikes.com/torex-utv-recall and they sent me a new controller. Huffy shipped it pretty quick and it was an easy swap.

What needs changed if the reverse stops working but the forward is fine

I need a favor...I purchased one of these but the forward & reverse switch went bad! When I removed the dashboard the wires fell off so I don't know how it was wired up! I blew 2 fuses guessing! Would you mind removing a few screws and telling me how that switch is wired? It's color coded.. I contacted customer service and they didn't have the information. .I got 2 little girls waiting to ride...I feel bad so this is me just trying everything! I appreciate any help you can offer.

So looking at the directional switch from the back, all wires are plugged into the left side terminals only. Blue wire is top, the bundle of three black wires is center, and yellow wire is at bottom. Looking at the back of switch, all three terminals on right side are not used. Let me know if that helps...
