Many people, especially Floridians, expect alligators in Florida to be big. And they are. However, most would be surprised how big they can get and how widespread alligators are in southern states like Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.

I live in Florida. Alligators ruin every body of fresh water down here. You can’t even trust little retention ponds. I’d be glad if the population was reduced by 3/4.

I saw an 8 footer up close in the Everglades last year. Was on the other side of a sturdy fence and was lounging near a fresh water outfall. Impressive animals…very impressive. 12 feet! I can’t imagine.

Biggest gator I’ve seen was 18 feet at a gator zoo off of Hwy 50. Biggest one I’ve seen in the wild was 14 feet on Merritt Island wildlife refuge, KSC area.

Oh wow!! Tropical Smokehouse is 15 minutes north of us. We'll have to go there sometime!! We go kayaking in our backyard canal and I just know giant gators are lurking beneath. I try not to think about it though. People commenting about relocating have NO IDEA how many gators we have in every body of fresh water. If you go on our bridge leading into the neighborhood at night and hold a flashlight over the water you can see a bunch of red glowing eyes staring back at you. It's honestly terrifying.

I saw a big one like that at the Royal Palm golf course on Hilton Head. He was basking right next to the pond out by the highway, while golfers were going for iron shots about 40 feet away😂. I guess people get comfortable with them, and they are native.

Excellent video! Tastes like chicken ! I lived just north of Orlando International Airport off of Hoffner from '97 to '05. They built the east most runway on swamp land; They found a rattlesnake hibernaculum with over 400 snakes and the biggest alligator they pulled out of the area, not more than two miles from my 150 pound pink frame? It was 18 feet long and weighed over 1100 pounds! That alligator would have had my body for a snack.....
