Mike. Rick here, your biggest phily fan friend , Im not sure if you know or not that. A lot of gold conner BGA's are just that , gold connered , with copper wiring inside , so out of 1 kilogram, a tenth of them maybe copper these days , I've learned to process them with the backs on them , very slowly. And after cleaning them off , you can see with a loop , which ones has gold or which ones are copper , , thanks for all you do , I do really appreciate a leave headed refiner , im learning from you , how to do that ! Have a good day and or night !

I replicated this ashing process and it works incredibly well. But not only that. It is very efficient. Because we effectively use the carbon in the chips as fuel, it reduces the amount of propane needed for ashing A LOT. I start the airflow when the walls of the crucible have started to glow red and the inside of it is still much colder. But it is already hot enough to sustain the oxidation inside. And when it has properly started, you can almost switch off the propane. The smallest setting that still burns well is more than necessary. Maybe a blowtorch modified for a propane bottle would do. And I use a larger aquarium pump for the air supply. No need to pump the air to 8 bars and then let it trickle out. I try to run my shop on solar electricity only, and that makes a HUGE difference. ;)

I appreciate all your tips & time saving tricks that you clearly have quite a knack for critical thinking on what might be done to increase the speed of processing already known; then essentially improving upon existing standards !! 39:50. A quick way to see if you still have un-dissolved gold in your beaker is to swirl it and get the solids to spin around in the beaker. Really get the solids moving. After it's spinning really fast, Just set it down on a level flat surface. Once everything settles down, gently pick up the jar and look at the bottom of the beaker. If there's any gold in the solids, you'll see it dead center of the beaker. It might be a little difficult to use this method with all that crushed silicon in there, but you should see some gold if there is any there.

Question: If I got a blender and ran it 3 or 4 times longer (or more) than what you did in this video do you think it would be more like the ball mill you have now? Cause I noticed the longer you ran the ball mill the finer it got. Had to watch this one again. Learned more, thanks!!
@omegageek642 жыл бұрын
You could certainly get a finer grind by running the blender longer. Maybe fine enough for many purposes. however, I don't think you'd ever approach the fineness achievable with a ball mill. there's a reason ball mills were invented. They work better. Mine is not even particularly good as ball mills go, but if I run it too long the powder inside gets so fine it becomes difficult to work with.

Other than the telecom chips, gold corner BGA's, and CPUs, what other chips have a substantial amount of gold in them, what do they look like, and where are they located (other than the two obvious ones PC's and their peripherals and cell phone)? Also I'm curious as you also here in Florida do you too have problems with the humidity combining with fumes to create acid dew on all of the exposed surfaces surrounding your work area (especially at night)? If not do you attribute that to the Seabreeze that we lack here in the middle of the state or is it something you do to prevent it? Because I'm having quite a problem with it especially the aluminum surfaces around my work area (I don't have a fume Hood).

Hi Mike, Your videos are wonderful! Learned a few new tricks about incineration today! T/Y!! One question - when you added the SMB to the pregnant solution - why didn't you stir it? You just dumped it in and let it sit. Just curious. Someone else commented about doing this with RAM chips. If you want - I'll send you 300 or 400 grams of RAM chips. I have 30 kilos of them. Need to process them with gold prices going up. Private message me with an address - be glad to help! Thanks again. Jim in Phoenix. (112 degrees yesterday)

Instead of using hydrochloric acid to cement out silver chloride, my advice would be add a little more nitric acid and strips of copper to cement out pure silver instead then the just need to forge it to a bar no further chemical required

I read or heard somewhere that the BGAs with the green backs have alot more gold than the black back ones. Thought you might want to do a video experiment with that to see if it's true. Maybe start to separate them now and maybe a few months or so down the road you might have enough of each to do that. I noticed you had a mix of them is why I'm saying this!! Have you tried adding a bit of Borax to the ashing process to keep any of the material from clinging inside the crucible ? I'm not sure if it would be helpful or not. That silver chloride should be saved, after drying for processing somewhere down the road. While silver isn't super valuable, when you have more... it becomes cost effective, as of today (2/26/21) Silver is $27.00 an ounce.

Why don't ever stir the beaker after you put in the SMB???? Go to you local bruhub supplier and have them order you a 10# bag of SMB. I get it for $2 a lb. That has to be cheaper then stump-out. I do love your vids. Good work
@omegageek644 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I stir if it looks like nothing is happening. The reaction is usually pretty vigorous when the SMB is added, so no stirring is usually needed. It basically stirs itself. The reaction produces SO2 gas which causes the gold to precipitate. SO2 is very soluble in water and will usually diffuse through the whole volume of liquid without the need for much stirring. The SO2 is so nasty that I usually dump the SMB in and close the door on the fume hood quickly so I don't get any of it in the face.
@yezok01 Жыл бұрын
Um that last gold drop after you left it sit over night 58 minutes aprox still contains gold as the liquid is turning back to yellow because you still have nitric in solution and by leaving it sit over night gold is going back into solution you should add urea before the hold drop or us another method to decompose the nitric still in solution

Be careful with scrunching up ceramic chips. The dust can give you mesothelioma.
@omegageek643 жыл бұрын
There is no asbestos in the ICs, and asbestos exposure is the only known cause of mesothelioma. However, silicosis could be an issue from breathing the dust from mashing up the silicon dies. I do use breathing protection when I pulverize the chips in the blender.

Which is the best way that generated the most gold, acid or incineration.

1) Neither method _"generates"_ any gold, it just _"recovers_" the gold. 2) Either method would recover the same amount of gold from the same chips. That is, within a few thousandths of a gram. Both recover pretty much all the available gold.

2.25g of gold very very good. Bga are the best chips to refine gold. Save the silver chloride put it in a jar let settle and when you have a big amount refine it. Filtre with vaccum and put lie and sugar method. But you must have a big amount to have a correct seize of it. Continue your channel. Dont forget the normal ic chips the amount of gold is less but it is a opportunity to make a video. Make at least 1.5 kg of them to have a good gold precipitation.
