Get a library card if you want to slow down on the spending but keep reading! Such a moneysaver and all libraries have audiobooks and ebooks now too these days. Also loooove anything Mhairi McFarlane, I always fall deep into those books so enjoy!! "You Belong with Me" is a sequel to Who's That Girl? So I'd potentially recommend reading that first although it's not 100% necessary

@@scrivspo I really love the content you produce about your own book collection, like selecting your TBR for the month! And I appreciate that you do actually read a lot of the books you buy. ALSO I LOVE MHAIRI MCFARLANE OMG; you are in for a treat!!!!! "Just Last Night" was soooo good. It had an incredible amount of depth. I first heard about her from Leena Norms on KZbin -- McFarlane is her *favorite* author. I might pick up McFarlane's new releases too!

Gotta tell you, I hated a Fate Inked in Blood - just could not jive with the FMC, and didn’t love the MMC either. I preferred her Bridge Kingdom Series if you want to try another Danielle Jensen book. Norse mythology was fun tho. If you like Norse mythology & you want to get into more plot focused fantasy - I’d read Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne. A few other fantasy with essentially no romance are The Tainted Cup and Scythe. The Tainted Cup is a really unique murder mystery in a fantasy setting - really interesting read, and Scythe is technically YA, but don’t let that stop you - it was such an interesting introspective look into death, and how it shapes us.

Babes, they're unfinished but I think you'd love Lies of Locke Lamora and Name of the Wind series. I don't think they'll ever end but they're so freaking good that I think you'll love it. Also, Mistborn is so good. The first book is perfect, the second book is only ok but the finale is the best that's ever happened

I recommend The borrowed life of Frederick fife, it's about a man in his 80s and is very heart warming. He's almost homeless then accidentally steals the identity of another old man living in a nursing home so his housing problem is solved, but it's not that simple.... Oh my gosh I LOVED this book.

If you like fantasy and comedy, have you read Terry Pratchett? Discworld can feel a little overwhelming (there are 41 books!) but you don't have to read them all or even all in order. You can find guides on where to start, lots of people have different opinions, I like the Watch series which starts with Guards! Guards!.

I adore fantasy but I'm meh on romantasy, so have a few recs: "A Darker Shade of Magic"-series by V.E. Schwab, "The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi" by Shamnon Chakraborty, "The Jasmine Throne" by Tasha Suri and more folktale-ish than truly high fantasy but "Emily Wikde's Encyclopedia of Fairies" by Hesther Fawvett is absolutely delightful :)

I would definitely describe The Hobbit as high fantasy - one of the OG classics of the genre, with Tolkien drawing on classic myths and ancient history marvellously. But hobbit (unlike Lord of the Rings) is also more of a children's classic, so not too epic and huge world building like you find in Lord of the Rings. But so cosy and humorous and moving!!! Great idea 😊
