Hey Donnie, congrats on your Motown Christmas LP finds! If you get the chance, get a copy of The Supremes "Merry Christmas" in Stereo. It has additional back-up vocals that the Mono version eliminates. Super congrats for your Phil Spector Christmas Album find! As a kid of 11 in 1962, Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound hit me hard and fast! Thanks to his powerful and exciting productions on The Crystals, The Ronettes, Darlene Love, and Bob B. Soxx & The Blue Jeans, Philles soon became my favorite label, and Phil Spector became my favorite record producer -- just before Motown swept the nation in 1964. The Phil Spector Christmas Album was originally released as "A Christmas Gift For You From Philles Records" (Philles PHLP-4005) on Friday, November 22, 1963 -- the same day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. I remember that day like it were yesterday, and I remember holding that new Philles Christmas LP in my hands at Grant's 5 & Dime store that very night. That original release was pressed on the blue/black Philles PR-logo label, and was quickly withdrawn by Phil out of respect for President Kennedy, plus the fact that Phil knew that America would not be in the mood for a new rock 'n' roll Christmas album that year. For Christmas 1964, Phil reissued his Christmas masterpiece on what, by now, had become the yellow/red Philles PR-logo label. By the 1970s, the Philles Christmas album was exchanging hands for $50 per copy. Since then, it has been reissued countless times on a variety of labels, including the Apple label which you purchased. You hit the nail right on the head when you said those Philles albums command a huge price in Near Mint condition and, especially, when Still Sealed. If memory serves, I paid $500 for my original blue/black copy in Near Mint condition; $300 for my Still Sealed yellow/red copy; and $700 for my Near Mint white/black PR-logo Promo Copy which, as you can imagine, is super-rare. Needless to say, those are my pride and joy, as are the rest of my Philles LPs and my Philles 45 collection -- all in Near Mint condition. It was a LOT of work accumulating it all, and it's sounds like a lot of money, I know, but it's an investment that I love, and I have a lot to show for it which makes it worth every penny spent. (NOTE: Donnie, if you haven't already, crank the Philles Christmas album under your headphones and fasten your seatbelt! The mono Wall Of Sound with its army of baritone saxes, sizzling strings, and thundering percussion blasting from both channels will knock your socks off! I swear!!!
