Had a weekend off from the Occoquan Reservoir tournaments that I fish with Ace so I had to jump into the RLOS event on Diascund. I've heard about 27 different pronunciations of the lake so if I said it wrong in the video, you're probably right.
Got lucky, had plenty of action and even got to cull a few times. I've been spending so much time on the water that I'm starting to really recognize certain things that I've read about, watched, learned, whatever you wanna call it over the years and piecing it together. It may not be catching me more fish, but putting me more in tune with them, what I think they're doing and why. It's pretty cool having a couple light bulb moments throughout the day.
This is turning into a pretty awesome streak of placing! In the last month, I've placed in more tournaments than I have in the last 5 years. Hoping to ride the heater til it fizzles out, but til then, I'm gonna keep sendin.

Dude you are the "Content Master" latelly. Nothing on earth could make me happier. You've been having such awesome insight about finding patterns and using multiple techniques to fish different depths and habitats. I've honestly never seen other content from other fisherman that does as good a job explaining their reason for fishing a particular style. i have learned more from you about true "fishing" than anywhere else in my experience. I have such a different attitude when i'm on the water. I think more clearly, watch things more closely like , water temp, wind, water clarity, time of year, places for fish to congregate, honestly every possible variable. My enjoyment level went from 5 to 10 as a result. Sometimes i think it's good to hear that all of your hard efforts from fishing to editing to describing your thought process. i also think your one of the nicest most considerate people not only in fishing but in life in general. It is a real gift to have your knowledge given to all of us for nothing. Even though I've been really sick lately, (word to the wise, truly don't smoke or vape folks) I get lost in each video and sometimes it becomes the best medicine I have at my disposal. Hey matt. About the line breaks. I have noticed a lot of guys who break off on KZbin all have one thing in common...they are using flurocarbon line. Flurocarbon line in my opinion and from what I have noticed over the years is very easy to break because of it's stiff/brittle characteristics. I watch fishing on youtube every day and see guys breaking fish off all the time, multiple times in a day, etc. I can count on my hand how many fish I have broken off in my entire career bass fishing, and those times were because I didn't retie after pike, or put too much pressure on a fish in heavy cover. Also, flurocarbon is easy to "skunk" as it is sensitive to light and can dry rot easily. I have been using monofiliament my whole life and never have breakoff problems. I like to use this analogy: Flurocarbon is like a dead tree branch, stiff and easy to break, where mono is like an alive tree branch, you have to bend and twist at it before it breaks. Mono's stretch also adds to the durability of it. Some or most people will disagree with me, but I swear to god Fluro sucks and if you switch to mono you will stop breaking off. I usually use 15-18lb mono.

Idk what pound line you use on Texas rig, but I’ve noticed the last few videos I’ve watched you break off quite a bit. I sacrifice bites especially in that water you fished today (clarity) to use 17-20lb and not have to worry about breaking very often. Idk just food for thought

Ya know... if you think about it, Matt, you're fishing a handicap as a solo fisherman. You're fishing against teams and their combined catch is weighed against your single angler catch. I'd figure that on an individual basis you caught more pounds of bass than any other single angler in that tournament. Hardly seems fair but what can you do? Nothing really.
