Azu is a weird case where they're mutual counters. Yes, Falinx counters the auto crit, but Water Pulse (Or Water Pulse +!!) does such massive damage bouncing between the troopers.

Aegislash plays super well into fallinks, the sacred sword gets an additional boosted auto, and it's wide guard is likely to get hit giving sword a good matchup

falinks is surprisingly balanced in my opinion, it can be incredibly strong but it easily countered. One of my favorite recent releases

Simply put anything that gets benefits off a move based on the number of targets hit is really good since you can get 6 hits at once easy off the troopers

I've noticed Perish Song from Lapras applies notes to the brass and troopers. I'm not sure if this will still result in the easy kill triggering when the brass is at low health while in column or No Retreat formation, but I'm sure it knocks out troopers easily in dispatch. Falinks is also kind of like that one Dota(?) character that clones itself, though I wouldn't mind getting a more proper likeness with say Maushold or Probopass.

Azu, specifically whirlpool azu, is a weird one here. Sure it doesnt crit anymore so damage isnt great, but the amount of healing it gets is absolutely insane. Me and a friend tested it out in practice once and it felt like a pulse goo vs pulse goo fight lol

Shadow claw on mimikyu does. A bunch of damage to falinks as well but if you are in no retreat and a mimikyu hits a play rough you take no damage since the play rough hits one of your trooper in no retreat instead of you I had that happen to me twice playing as falinks in a standard match

Imo Blizzard Avalanche A9 is the hardest counter, over Venu. Each trooper has a freeze counter and they can chain procc and all stun in succession.

I want them because they’d mostly be roles we don’t normally get. Jolteon would be speed, vaporeon would be defender (or possibly support), and idk Flareon would probably still be an all rounder but I’d take that to get new roles

For all the pokemon that will heal off falinks does cursed bangle become a useful item to reduce the heals? Do the effects of your items (muscle, curse, drain,etc.) activate when your troopers attack in beat up mode?

I think the things I love most about this mon is that is a mini buff to Pokemon that counter it. Like I've loved espeed Lucario since launch, but not so long ago the newer mons make it kinda tricky to play. Ex, buzz, umbreon, A9, and clafairy 😬 that is just rough. So it's neat that since this guy coming out a handful of mon's moves become relevant again

Nine tails litreally stops falinks from moving…….too much counters…..but lucario and venasaur I feel are the hardest…..avoiding them in fight is better even in team fights vena gets so much heal that it survives when it shudnt…it’s like u cost that team fight by being a health pack for vena……lol…..

From my experience razor leaf decidueye has a good match up. The leaves target falinks and the grunts while firing extremely fast.

Also, delphox is an insane counter to falinks. I feel maybe beat up would be good for getting around the fire spins, but if you get caught in a fire spin, youre gonna get chained to death.

I think Del gets countered a bit by Falinks because fire spin would target a trooper in the line and I don’t think the brass can get caught if the line is fully extended.

Most unique release (best release in that regard since the unique Hoopa release), but knowing Timi they might be testing the Overwatch model of balancing, which is a bad thing, as hard counters in general are just not a fun mechanic, just ask any Overwatch player... *"playing Overwatch is like being in a room filled with 80% chlorine gas"* -from well-made YT video essay "TF2's Sentry Guns Are 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘱𝘪𝘥" by SolarLight, et al. I suggest watching this video to learn more about why hopefully, this recent hard-counter-filled release is something that will not proliferate further (only the uniqueness is wanted more), if not the whole video, at least the last 2 sections: "Soft Counters Are Fun" & "Hard Counters Are Stupid (other kind)"

Making it viable on one mon isn't gonna make it really viable. They'd have to rework it completely anyways because you have to take so much damage to deal so little and still have to try and land the tiny AoE.

I have noticed that falinx also counters decidueye razor leaf build. The razor leaf move only targets the main head and does not targets the troopers. Also the crit reduction affects the arrow build.

Even though the crits are minimized, Water Pulse+ Azumarill is actually wild. It bounces over and over almost indifinitely, sort of makes up for the lost crits.

Falinks is a counter to Mr Mime with power swap because you can hit one of the trooper but doesn't apply the debuff. It's also a pretty bad combo as teamates because you can hit the troopers and don't buff and heal the brass

I've been mainlining falinks since it came out, I think it's the most balanced pokemon ever released. Also, beat up megahorn may be the best mobility I've ever felt on a pokemon, for disengaging, or rushing across the map to a fight

They should change a few thing on Falinks, no pokemon should have such glaring counters and SO MANY just because of his gimmnick. For instance, i think it's fine that Venu recovers from all the troops but it should be a much smaller % from them.

Uhh... that'd be a rework at that point so not really. If anything they could get rid of targeting and healing from the troopers at some point if it gets really bad. Not like the counters are that game-breaking imo, falinks has stuns and a lot of shield and healing, his kit is loaded with that stuff.

I think Azumarill gets counterd hard by Failinks. It is almost impossible to crit with Azu because you always hit multiple targets. One of the few Pokemon who can beat Azu in a 1vs1 melee fight.

Always did. They buffed lucario's dmg output a while ago so it's more up to speed with the newer roster. That and the ult I guess.

The only reason why I'm not a falinks main is literally just because of venusaur. Not everyone knows how to play lucario or talonflame. Venusaur on the other hand is available for free, easy to play and destroys falinks harder than any of the other ones. I do play it if I don't get draft matches, but seeing as everytime I played falinks in draft the enemy instantly picked venusaur, I can't really be a falinks main.

Zoroark should be pretty good against it, regardless of which move you pick, since it needs to hit something to continue its combos.

Another big counter to falinks is ninetales also absol counters no retreat megahorn falinks quite good. Some Pokemon falinks can soft counter are gengar(dream ball) and mimikyu(playrough)

I will say though, the damage still isn't too much, but with dashing like 10 times, the self heal, and being a hard target to hit as well you should be fine 💪
