@SpeikobraRote3 ай бұрын
@@RyoWatanabee Indeed. I owned and breed quite a bit of Channa in the past years. Keeping just one is... not as fun but easier for sure. Usually you need to get a group of young ones 5-7 and let them pair of by themselves. Then you remove the remaining ones and usually have a peacefull pair which can live together for the rest of their life.

Ahh another fish and plant store tour. I was wondering when the next one would drop, and then I go over and check the channel and here it is. That sure is a neat place. A wide selection of goodies for hobbbyists. At 3:12 I'm no expert, but could that have been a Japanese species of the Fire-bellied newt? 😅

Yes! That was it. Fire bellied newt. Couldn’t think of it at the time 😅

@@RyoWatanabee That's awesome! Yea, I wasn't sure at first, but just went with what immediately came to mind. 😁 That store/shop truly was awesome. It has a little of almost everything. You're right about the greenery too. I think all those plants made the shop come to life, even more than it already did. 😃

What a lovely fish store. It looks so fun. I really want to get a dwarf snakehead, but they are illegal in the US. Its so sad. Great video, Ryo. and seeing the plants would be wonderful.

Oh, I didn’t realise. I must’ve heard that they were illegal but forgotten about it I think. I know Asian arowanas are illegal which is sad too. Thanks for your comment! One day, if I find the space, I’ll try to get a dwarf channa :)
@LeilaSoleil3 ай бұрын
@@RyoWatanabee yes and I would love one of them too. 😅But the channa is very sad because they are so nice and small. They couldn't be more dangerous than a wolf fish...and in Europe they can have them as pets. Oh well. It is not meant to be. You've got me thinking about an aquatic turtle now my friend. lol

3:00 Chinese fire belly newt (Cynops orientalis)
@jensino3 ай бұрын
3:01 Most likely Cynops pyrrhogaster. There are different subspecies, local populations and even transitional forms across Japan (Hokkaido and the most southern islands excluded). This animal in particular looks like the 'Hiroshima type', this population occurs in Kyushu, Shikoku, Oki and Chugoku region and is characterized by bright red bellies with only a few black spots or even none spots at all. Their breeding behavior is slightly different as well. The male doesn't place its hind leg on the females neck during courtship like in other Japanese fire-bellied newts populations. Definitely a species worthy to be added to the Ryo Watanabe collection. But most newt enthusiasts end up keeping and breeding different populations of their favorite newt species, so be warned. 😂
@RyoWatanabee3 ай бұрын
Wow! You really know about newts! Thanks for the information 😃
@jensino3 ай бұрын
@@RyoWatanabee Thank you. It is a really complex species and even in Japan there are only a few experts on this topic. 🙂
@smorc653 ай бұрын
@@RyoWatanabee I was thinking it might be Cynops ensicauda, the sword-tail newt, but I'm not great at distinguishing the two. It's definitely Cynops genus! These are really difficult to find in the USA, only a few people breeding them (and probably costing far more than they do in Japan!)
@jensino3 ай бұрын
@@smorc65 I stand corrected. You are right. I watched it again and the sign reads 沖縄シリケンイモリ which refers to Cynops ensicauda. If you watch closely you can see small white dots on its dorsal. The color will intensify once they get older.
