Huge gains from this Defender Td5 110 with an Alive GTB450 VNT turbo

Despite the high mileage, this is another example of a Td5 with a good, well cared for engine, that's responded really well to our GTB450 turbo conversion.
In stock form, this 110 made 124.9hp with 300Nm.
With our GTB450 conversion, this has shot up to an incredible 213hp and 489Nm, with the nicest possible delivery and with no smoke!

10:22 you said you dont think its ever had a head gasket? How would that effect the power or figures? Just curious as im changing my head gasket atm 😅

Head gasket failure isn’t uncommon on the Td5, and it’s one of those things you need to regularly check for. Changing the head gasket, or even a failed head gasket, wouldn’t make a notable change in power. What does kill power on these is skimming the cylinder head, so if yours has got really hot and warped the head, you could be facing a potential loss of power after a repair.

We often do, although its mainly things such as tired injecotrs. This engine must have had a very easy life, accruing its mileage on long journeys, rather than short runs, as it was in fantastic condition.
