The female worker bees are the only ones who can make honey. JP, hats off to you Sir. As a child I was allergic to anything that stung and had to carry one of those epipens. In my adult life things changed dramatically, I served in the military and was exposed/stung by everything to include honey bees, scorpions and fire ants in Iraq and Afghanistan. I missed out on yellow jackets and wasps, no loss. I guess my question is, how long did it take you to build up your immunity to the bee venom? I'm assuming you've been stung a million times and it doesn't bother you anymore? I find your work fascinating and enjoy watching your videos, keep up the good work Sir.

BJA 1976 hard to pinpoint exactly how long it took to realize I wasn’t reacting to stings as I did initially. Thinking back, I’d have to say I recall noticing a difference after a few months fooling with them. Allergic reactions to bee stings can vary greatly, even my initial stings weren’t too bad. I recall some swelling but nothing out of the ordinary & the spot where stung would be warm to the touch for a day, sometimes two. Today, when stung reactions are obviously on the mild side.

For some people wondering why she did not drive through the car wash- 1 It is illegal to kill off a hive in some states after several years of honey bee industry decimation 2- if someone walking along who is allergic, gets stung while she is on her way...well a lawsuit could be pending 3-general fear kept her away from that car.
