The girl was top 5% of the top high school equivalent school in China. Speaks 3 languages fluently and more at a simple phrases level. She plays instruments, writes/composes songs, dances at a high level, sings at a high level, and has outstanding charisma on stage. Part of a top 10 all time kpop girl group. Sold in the top 5 for all kpop female solo's. She might have been oddly confident at the start of her career but this woman is now has appropriate self-esteem. Soyeon even says Queen Card is about Yuqi.

In her mother tongue Yuqi’s name is pronounced ‘yu-chee’ But in all her K-pop stuff she calls herself ‘ookey’ which I believe is just how those translated characters sound. I think she knows that this pronunciation is a bit easier for many so that’s what she goes with :)

​@@jamescurfman3284They're right tho. 우기 can be romanised as either woogi or oogi/ooki Like for an example, Seventeen's Woozi is written in hangul as 우지 (uji) Any time you see "woo/wu" in a romanised korean name (Woongki, Jiwoong, Gunwook Eunwoo, Wonwoo, etc) it's just written as 우. It's because the mouth shape is so close on that initial vowel that it kinda sounds like there could be a w sound there sometimes.

@@crptpyr Well then Koreans can change the way they are allowed to pronounce certain writing. I don't give a crap about how it is written as long as people know what it is supposed to sound like. Obviously she herself has been through all different permutations of how hundreds of thousands of different people pronounce it or how they are told to pronounce it. But why can't anybody show her the respect she deserves and figure out how her own parents say her name? Then translate that sound into an ACCURATE form of lettering. There are all sorts of ways to modify many languages on Earth. Why is Korean SO TECHNICALLY IMMOBILE? It can't be modified at all? They should really look for more letters for new sounds. It's ludicrous to have an unmodifiable written language. It is far too rigid.

@@jamescurfman3284 A somewhat insane notion to think that a language should change its whole writing system to accommodate sounds that it doesn't even use natively, just so that kpop stans don't get confused by how foreign idols' names are translated or whatever. If you wanna know how her parents pronounce her name, you don't need an update to hangul to look it up. In English we do the exact same thing, where we pronounce foreigners' names with the closest sounds in English available. It's also worth noting that pronunciation isn't the most important factor with names everywhere. In China, something that's very important is the meaning of a name. A lot of Chinese names are changed in Korean so that they retain their meaning. 우기 is how the hanzi/hanja in Yuqi's name would be read in Korean. Changing the pronunciation maintains the original meaning of her name, and that might be more important to her than pronunciation.

as for the pronounciation of her name: in Chinese it would pronounced somewhere along the lines of "yoo-chee" (or, if you wanna get even closer and know how to pronounce it "yü-chee"), but since the direct adaption of her actual name into Korean would've resulted in it been 위치, which is already a Korean word meaning "location" or "position" and doesn't really make a great stage name, they decided to "Koreanize" the pronounciation and it became "woo-ghee"

You missed the On Clap Performance Video and the MV for Everytime with Minnie. (Then you almost completed the whole EP. There are two more songs on the EP: My Way and Drink It Up, but they didn't get promotional videos. Which is fine considering that we got actual videos for 5 out of 7 tracks. I've been waiting for this- this album is so good and I ADORE the Drew Barrymore references (it probably was just a coincidence but her in Could It Be in the diner reminded me of 50 First Dates a little bit, and is it just me or in Red Rover with the sparkly dress she kind of reminded me of Cameron Diaz in Charlies Angels). Also for Freak I thought the same thing I'm just like "This is definitely sapphic coded-" either way it was very good, also your reaction to the first few seconds of Could It Be was so relatable, that song is kind of underrated it is so good and her vocals! Also I noticed when she had the teal hair and was in that desert area it kind of looked like where Red Velvet's Ice Cream Cake was filmed but I could be wrong. Dude I can't wait for you to check out her other solos (including the one with Minnie it was so sweet) and the other Member's solos as well! Ok I'll already apologize for the length of this cuz it's gonna be long (and I know I'm also kinda late to this) but I'd love to give you some recommendations for stuff to watch ((g)i-dle related but also other groups related). Purple Kiss: "Zombie" is a must, it's horrorish but with a fun twist to it, and there's "Nerdy" which is SO you coded and has an amazing message. XG: pretty much everything of theirs. I'd especially recommend "WOKE UP". And I won't elaborate any further. Dreamcatcher: once again, all of their stuff. "Chase Me" is a legendary debut and "Scream" is just too good and "Vision" and "Odd Eye" and "Deja Vu" and ahhhh I could just go on and on but this would never end. Oh and prepare yourself mentally for Dami in "Maison". Yeah. BIBI: AHAYSHJS I could literally talk about this queen for hours as well but you MUST MUST MUST watch "BIBI Vengeance". That's not even for discussion. (G)I-DLE: I said it in another comment and others also already said it but "Oh my god" will evaporate you. You don't even know Soojin yet (she's a former member of the group). I'm so intrigued to see how fast she'll murder your soul. Besides this one, there's also "Uh-Oh" and "Lion" from when they were still 6, and "Put It Straight" Nightmare ver. (live performance or Halloween costume dance practice, either one is highly recommended). I know you know "Tomboy" and "Queencard" already but if you haven't watched the MVs for both of them you REALLY should (tho before you watch Queencard you should watch "Allergy" cuz they are connected storyline-wise). Both Dreamcatcher and (G)i-dle also have comebacks really soon (July 10th and 8th respectively) so stay tuned for these too! Once again sorry for the length of this :'›

I am loving your reactions to (G)I-dle and would love if you did more. If I'm not mistaken, you have only reacted to Wife, Super Lady and Nxde, right? My suggestions going forward, at least as an introduction, would be: - Hwaa (beautifully written); - Lion; - Oh My God (a must! it's called the lesbian anthem for a reason, and somehow the english version is even gayer); - Tomboy (one of their most popular songs); - Allergy and Queencard (these two have to be watched together and in this order because their MV's have a shared story line); - Tomboy. All of these have MVs and that's one of the reasons why I prioritized them but they have an amazing discography, so there will be no shortage of good recommendations. Also, you haven't reacted yet to a song of theirs that had their former 6th member (Soojin) in it, so some of these will be a good introduction to her as well.

Their member SuA, from the motorcycle in OOTD and you kept liking her voice in Boca and BEcause, is actually their main dancer and choreographed the Demian performance.
