Huge landslides at blackgang ..15th May 2024 update

A flight over blackgang beach .
looks like there has been more slippage since my last flight in January 2024

This such an AWESOME VIDEO. Thankyou for sharing. Drones are amaZing pieces of awesome technology. Seeing the cliff faces /landslides. Mother Nature is incredibly forceful. The damage is sadly phenomenal. On a enormous scale it's impossible to stop!!!!

My family's old home in The Terrace, that we left in 1999, still looks like it has many many years of life left in it. The sandstone peninsula that it's built on is more robust than the layers of blue slipper clay that get lubricated by water and cause these slips.

Agreed. If you examine photos from 100 years ago the slippage there has been minimal, yet Lowcliff vanished years ago and Blackgang is disappearing the same way.

I hope you will go far. Patience is very important for success. Never get discouraged no matter how bad the weather is or how low the views are. He/she was disappointed and failed. Just as I predicted some weeks back. I said at the time that the maze wouldn't last long. The owners should close that section of the theme park for safety reasons - there's an accident waiting to happen there as more could fall anytime. Also, how stable is that new ride they put in two years back?? *It isn't* - it, too, is dangerously near the cliff edge. The sheer vastness of those cliffs at Blackgang can only be seen from beach level really. The difference between the land at Blackgang and that near the Coastguard Cottage at Chale Bay can clearly be seen here and there appears to have been very little slippage at the latter since I was there 2 years back. At Blackgang much has fallen and this has been compressed by all the rain. Thanks for the update.
