Most likely one or two large cracks running with the grain. Just as a log would normally crack as it dries.

This is what fire wood comes from.. trees . These trees I use come from fire wood producers. There are many hundreds of firewood preparation videos on KZbin, I was curious if you also comment on those ? A tree’s only purpose in nature is the grow, then die and rot on the forest floor feeding the rest of the life in the forest. Literally ANY use of wood other than that is a waste of wood as it’s being removed from its only true purpose. The fact that you thing a grand staircase is somehow less wasteful than a giant whimsical snowman is merely subjective and is probably something to discuss with your therapist rather than with me 😉
