Congratulations on the find of a lifetime! For what you have acquired it would be well worth the investment to get the machines and tooling in an air conditioned environment. Left in the out building everything will just start rusting. Made my day on the Tube.

I know I haven't updated or told anyone yet seeing how I'm pretty new to KZbin but if you can see in the videos I do have a shop and I do plan on putting air conditioning inside as soon as I get the power hooked up which is something I'm currently doing and I'll probably make some videos on that so you guys can see my progress. I greatly appreciate and greatly value every single tool I get and have and have the utmost respect for the quality craftsmanship and the knowledge it takes to use them and make them.

Those round pin set up table and vises are sine fixtures for creating precise angles. Typically place gage blocks in between to generate triangles and use trigonometry to get the angle desired.

Thank you so much... now I know what they are. I just looked up videos on them. So now I have some new stuff to watch and learn about.

Hey Joe. Just found your video and channel. What a massive score!! I would be interested in a couple of the items. Is there a way I could contact you privately?
@JoesCountryGarage2 ай бұрын
I don't think I ever set up a contact email on my KZbin page.That will be something I have to do not exactly sure if I'm really interested in getting rid of to much just yet due to I haven't really gone through everything fully and really just soaked it all in but I am open to listening there's nothing ever wrong with that maybe check back later at the end of this week and see if I end up throwing up a contact email.

Thanks for replying! I understand completely. You made the score of a lifetime. If you decide to part with anything, I did see a couple of items I would be interested in purchasing. If you decide to, please let me know!
@JoesCountryGarage2 ай бұрын
@@jessebrown2723 there's an email now if you can find it. HAHA But please don't get your hopes up. It doesn't hurt to inquire but I do plan on doing a machine shop set up for my big shop which is the reason why I'm looking and purchasing items like this. I watch Abom, OXO tools, etc. Be prepared to possibly be disappointed but no matter what thank you for watching and I hope you enjoyed the content.

It’s insane the amount of tooling you acquired. I wouldn’t be able to sleep for days, lol
@JoesCountryGarage2 ай бұрын
I can't sleep just thinking about all the other stuff I have in my shipping container and in my other storage areas that I need to get into my shop and still set up and go through and organize and stuff like that but yes I am very thrilled with the machinist tools that I just acquired now I need to grab my personal tools as well and kind of put them together and see what I got

If you come across a compound slide for a 6" lathe I would be willing to give you a fair price for it. Mine recently broke.
@JoesCountryGarage2 ай бұрын
What lathe do you have?
@richball95762 ай бұрын
@@JoesCountryGarage Hi Joe, It's exactly like the craftsman one you just bought. All I need is the compound slide casting.
@JoesCountryGarage2 ай бұрын
@richball9576 I will keep an eye out for you but that's not something I normally come across I usually buy complete machines but you never know. I'm actually picking up another little lathe today I think this addiction needs to stop it's also coming from the same gentleman but it's a lot smaller version .I did do a search on eBay and put Craftsman lathe and a few compounds came up I didn't really have time to look to see if they were the correct ones but maybe that's something you could do if you haven't done it already also if you're in desperate need of it I don't know if you ever thought of brazing it or welding it with nickel rod then again I haven't seen the damage that it has endured.
@richball95762 ай бұрын
@@JoesCountryGarage I appreciate it Joe. There are a couple on eBay but people want well over $100 for just the piece I need. I'm disabled and just can't afford that much money for the part. Thank you so much for responding. You really seem like a great guy.
@JoesCountryGarage2 ай бұрын
If you go in the About Me. I should have an email that I posted on there. If you could send me a picture and we can see if it's something that's able to be brazed/ repaired. Obviously a new one would be better but maybe there's a way we could at least kind of get you up and running for the meantime

Absolutely mind blown at this epic tool gold mine haul! Wow!

I'm Blown Away too, thank you for watching. I hope you enjoyed it a lot more different things to come

You have a haul! The older man this came from had to work for Nasa or something, most people do not have this big of a collection unless they were a machinist for a living for a long time. The dial indicators we had when they got sticky or didnt work the company would just buy more. So we all had a bunch sitting in drawers so its not that odd to have alot. I always wondered why they never sent them back to Starrett to be fixed. Look up Starrett tours and there is a guy who in the last 6 months got to tour the factory and its a 2 or 3 part video but its kool. I have old catalogs for Starrett and Mac and Brown and Sharpe and snap-on,ect and when I find a used tool and dont know what it is I go thru them to find it. Look for them at sales and on line.

I know the gentleman was into tool making and I tried to get in contact with him through the people I purchased the items from but unfortunately it never happened. I hope to make some fun things and do great projects with these tools.

Congrats on a great score of tools! Wish I could run across a sale like this, as I’m trying to set up the Machine side of my shop. The wood side is almost done and that equipment was a score of the lifetime like yours. Look forward to seeing yours grow. Cheers

Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I hope you have great success in setting up your shop and finding what you need. I've taken many, many years to collect things over my life and have stored them for this day to come. I'm just trying to get the internal infrastructure set up so I can stop powering off extension cords and a generator. I guess it's beneficial that I'm always looking at the for sale ads

As a hobby machinist i own 3 lathes of those 2 function and the third is a work in progress. I am familiar with most of the precision measuring tools you have and you scored big time! When you are doubled up on tools it makes it so you can one at the lathe and another at the mill or what ever station you set up. it is also nice to have the ultra accurate tools keep put away while keeping quality functional at each station knowing the tools at the stations will get some wear and tear. As another viewer said rust will become an issue, might consider some moisture proof storage cabinets with some absorbing desiccant . Your tool purchase is top quality and very costly to replace so it's worth the investment to protect them from all forms of harm. Good luck with your shop project

I completely agree on having multiple areas with identical tools etc so I don't have to go across the shop for dial calipers, ruler etc. I plan on doing that now for sure. I can't wait to get the shop up and running. Im currently working on the interior walls, electrical etc. I will have a video coming out soon regarding that stuff. Probably can use everybody's help deciding where to put everything I have and give me some more advice. Thank you so much for watching and commenting

As a machinist I am offended at your mis-spelling of machinist...

Good find. Now I'm going to have to figure out how to update the thumbnail. . UPDATED don't be offended even the best of us make mistakes. And that's how we learn and become better..... check it out now

the "rounds" are variety of sine bars and plates - used to set up accurate angles
@JoesCountryGarage2 ай бұрын
Awesome. Thanks for the info. I'm trying to watch some videos on that. I even messaged Tom Lipton from oxtools for info. I can't wait to get the shop done so I can play around. Please come back for more so that way I can get more help and advice from everybody. I really appreciate it.
@adhawk56322 ай бұрын
All the solid blocks and some of the vices with knurled handles are for a surface grinder, the sine plates are used on one too with a gauge block stack👍👌🇦🇺 this is probably 10-20K for all that stuff originally, if not more, a lifetime of someone's quality tools. You got soooo lucky. Go to some swap meets, trade or sell for something else you need, share the extra items you don't want. They are gold to someone else, trade em off😊
@JoesCountryGarage2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the information I'm used to only seeing the surface Grinders with the magnetic Chucks I've never really watched too many detailed videos on that so I haven't really seen them use the vices this will be something I'll have to pay attention to more as I want to learn how to use these items especially when I get the shop up and running I still need to go through everything to really pick out what I really want and what I'm really deciding I'm going to either sell trade or maybe do a giveaway for you guys and I know that this was the gentleman's lifelong collection and I knew the value in it that's why I did everything I could to purchase everything he had the gentleman had such care of everything he owned and I knew I wanted to carry the torch as I love building creating and fabricating

What a massive assortment of quality tools. Although it must be completely overwhelming. It would be a fortune even in the used market. Congratulations on the score.

Thank you very much I greatly appreciate the comment I appreciate these items very much and hope to put them to very good use. I learned a lot and how to work with my hands from my grandfather who worked on cooling systems for Rockets. I'm glad I'm able to let these tools live on.
