How times change . . . So genteel nowadays but back in the 1950s the area was notorious for race riots while three storey houses with a basement could be snapped up for £2500 by the likes of slum landlord Peter Rachman. And a couple of streets west of Ladbrook Grove stood the infamous Rillington Place, home to one of London's worst murder scenes of the 20th century!
