I have been using the stacked villager thing since I saw what happened with my 2nd miner way back when. I have 12 farmers, so harvesting 100 pumpkins gets me anywhere between 275-320 in return. It's a smart strategy, but making the profession books takes so many resources that you can't just alternate the characters from one skill to another. It would be great if I could make 25 farmers on harvest day, then switch em all to mining to get vitalis crystals and iron, then switch em all to timebending to clear out the Island.

I got rid of all of my gardeners, and I have no desire to bring them back... Sure, in the early to mid-stages of the game farming is great because you need starcoins... but now, with around 2000 hours in the game, I have no need for more starcoins. I have too many as it is... If I need crops, I can just use the Ancient Gardening machines. On top of that, you can't craft with Shiny Minerals so those are mostly only good for selling and gifting. In my treasure vault I have nearly 10 million starcoins worth of shiny gems just sitting there. Now, if you LOVE gardening and it's one of your favorite things to do for coins, that's great! As long as you're playing the game the way you want to play! But for me... this expansion and the Ancient Gardening Machine removed the need to have even a single gardening companion. So I'd much rather put that effort into mining and time bending... as those are resources you can't gain with starcoins alone...

My main problem with the pickax polish is getting Onyx. I would use it so much more often if I didn’t keep running out of onyx 😂

That's fair! I mine A LOT! 🤣 So, I've stacked up a ton of Onyx. You can always reach out to players who don't have a lot of mining companions and don't use the pickaxe polish... See if they'll trade the onyx to you for something they need! Most players who don't care about mining would probably be willing to trade.

I stopped changing characters to time Benders when I got to +9 for nearly all drops, my focus going fwd will be miners. I am a bit dreamlight poor after all the time bending manuals and large chests so will be waiting a bit before I craft potions but will love getting mining resources easier with this method. Somehow, despite playing this game for over a year, I never knew the overall amount of profession holders affect the way you get bonuses! I had a feeling something like that existed for timebending due to the videos on gathering that, but didn't know it was true for all of them. 😅 Thanks for the video, I now know to replace the foraging villagers to something else (that is the only resource I never bother having a villager with me for).

Gameloft REALLY needs to buff foragers! They have the most pointless profession in the game! I've always said if foragers duplicated sticks (like darkwood or tropical wood) and flowers, they would actually be worth having! But just fruits and herbs? That stuff is wayyy to easy to get and we almost never need more of it. 🙃

I have 25 mining mates 🥰 all other new characters will be timebenders. I just wish that Dreamlight was easy to get like Mist. But i have used the Potion a few times just to complete all the Eternity Isle mining tasks and to fill up my chests so i don't have to worry when i start decorating if i have resources for crafting 🥰. I only started playing last year around July. I got to where I am from watching your videos. They are always a great help ☺

Thanks for pointing me to rewatch given my current focus to complete DLC mining duties. Have I understood correctly that the pickaxe polish wouldn't do anything if not hanging out with a mining companion?

Using the polish without a companion will still have an effect on what comes out of the mining node. Using the pickaxe polish allows each swing to provide rare minerals, whereas typically, you'll only get a rare mineral as the last item out of the node. Though, using the polish with mining companions is far more efficient as your companion will duplicate every item with the potion active.

Thank you for clarifying.. Definitely planning to use mining companions was just trying to understand the full extent of the potion. So the gems coming from the node before the last hit (not the miner companion additions), would they count as part of completing the duty or is it just the last gem from the node that counts for duty completion?

The question is, how do you get all the Onyx for the potions? I've never had a mining companion duplicate one of those.

If there was a solution to the onyx problem, we'd all be a lot more productive and prosperous. So far, it's just been grinding it out while simultaneously trying to get iron, tourmaline, and aquamarine.

This is true! Companions do NOT duplicate onyx! This is because companions only duplicate what comes out of the stone itself and Onyx is a "chance" item that just sort of spawns while mining the same way red seaweed spawns while fishing. I've been playing since release and I've spent a TON of time mining iron, stone, vitalys crystals, gold, and more... I also almost never crafted the mining potions before except to make some video with them. You actually used to get way more iron and gold without the potions... and since that was what I always mined for... I never really used them outside of testing this in past videos. Now, with this buff the mining potion has become insanely powerful, and I was lucky I sat on all that onyx for so long. There's only one way to pull onyx and that's just by casually mining. It can take a while but it you let it build up for a while you'll be set to go on a mining tear with the potions.

Hey Stevie! From my personal experience hanging out with specific villagers has no impact on the memories you get. I tend to get memories from all over the place regardless of who's with me... With that said, there have been a few times I've collected a memory that had something to do with the villager I was with... but that could just be random chance... Personally, I don't *think* it matters but I can't say that for certain. Perhaps they provide some *small* percentage chance? I don't think that's the case but... I guess it could be!

I mainly have farming companions because money and pumpkins and thought you get definitely the most out of it 🤣 dont have the dlc yet though..

You can only hang out with one at a time but their overall efficiency is determined by how many you have in total! Gardners are great to have in the early to mid-game! They can help you get TONS of starcoins... but in the late game when you're sitting on tens of millions or even one hundred million starcoins... they lose their value!

Yes! If you use this method specifically to gather iron, just make sure you only use it in the Glade of Trust! The Glade has the highest iron drop rate. So if you use potions and you have a high amount of mining companions, doing this in the glade will result in a ton of iron! The Forest of Valor also drops a decent amount of iron, but the Glade drops more, and the potions can be expensive to produce. For the best iron results, use your potions and mining companions in the Glade only. The mining nodes respawn every 5 minutes, so after you break them, just wait 5 minutes and repeat. Do this a few times with potions, and you should get a ton of iron... just keep in mind there will be RNG when it comes to how often the iron drops, but sticking to the Glade will yield the best results. Keep in mind, in order for this to be HIGHLY effective, you'll need a minimum of 15 mining companions.

Oh yeah, it's +16 for 26 to 35... I think I said 14 in the video. Either way, the potion gives it a HUGE buff. I've never found it quite rewarding enough to go above 25 because I'd have to sacrifice too much from other professions. The +9 is way more than enough for me. I'd rather have more time benders and eventually I'll be cutting back to 15 mining companions.

Hahaha very true! I don't personally use exploits. I don't even refresh the Scrooge Shop but I'm in a privileged position as a creator. I get to spend a fair amount of time on the game. So, I don't judge anybody who decides to duplicate.
