I never water often enough in the winter. This is a great idea.

It's beautiful! The air stone is such a good idea. You could get a pretty trash bin or basket to put over the bigger jar, maybe.

Hi Jeff I can’t wait to see this get moved into the larger pot.
@aquafina654413 сағат бұрын
@jeff try using a box like a amazon or Walmart box. You can get the size you need for free if you don't have any. Just go to any store or big box facility and ask for the boxes they throw away. You will have to tape it back up bcus they take them apart. You can get your kids to decorate it to fit in with your plants.

Thanks for the suggestion! I actually had a larger ceramic pot that fits this container perfectly!

Now the goal is time and size for this monstera!

Your plant is looking great! Way to go! Those monsteras are crazy growers aren’t they? Your roots are busting out of that glass jar. I have a Thai constellation that is getting insanely large (it has 3 columns of inner fenestrations) and I recently have to invent a Medieval contraption to keep it from tipping over. I guess plants are a constant conundrum!

I currently have 3 nice pieces of monstera growing in water. 2 are in one vase in the other is in a container mounted on the wall. I have 2 in soil that I am air layering so that I can chop them in the early spring. They are on moss poles, but I'm liking the idea of the plank outside of the container. Can any type of wood be used?
@EverythingPlants11 сағат бұрын
Yes any type of wood. Cedar is the most rot resistant, but if it's outside the pot then you can really use anything

Will you be taking the smaller piece out and growing separately? In a while.

I have a question, instead of the oxygen pump, isn’t it easier to just add some hydrogen peroxide to the water?
@pudik20082 сағат бұрын
Now that’s a good question!

It’s gorgeous, I was wondering why I don’t get notified when you post, I have to search your videos to see, I did miss a couple but I fixed that! Notifications was on personalize?! It’s on all now, great seeing you Mr.Jeff , I have a questionsMy burle Marx variegated is on a moss pole but do I water the pole where the plant starts on the pole, what I mean by where the plant starts, the pole is a lot longer full of moss or do I water the pot ? Oh, it hasn’t grown much it has a small leaf another growing point has emerged but it seems to be getting leggy I have the sansi 3 prawn lights on it. I wisIh I can post picture on here.
@EverythingPlants17 сағат бұрын
You can definitely send a picture to my Instagram account if you like As for watering..... regardless of the size of pole or plant, I will always water from the top of the pole and let it trickle down. That way the moss doesn't become hydrophobic. As long as the plant is getting good light then I wouldn't have any concerns with 'overwatering' the plant. Make sure it is in good chunky soil and the actual soil in the pot gets enough water from trickling down....hope that makes sense

That was really interesting. I’m just not willing to add a pump to have such a large plant in water,but I do grow snake plants in water. I put some charcoal at the bottom and I’ve never had dirty or smelly water. Only fill it up when the water level gets low. I bought a ‘clear acrylic trash can’ for a large semi-hydro setup from Temu,under $10,it’s quite large. If you can’t find large ‘cashe pots’ or one to put a clear container in,search colored trash can/paper waste baskets,I also do that to stop algae from growing from light. Great experiment Jeff. 💚🪴🌿
