Huge airborne crash for (77) Wilfried Bouccena coming out of Paddock Hill Bend as he gets along side with (67) Philipp Lietz. with an unseen (6) Fabrizio Armetta coming up the inside which turns Guillaume Deflandre into the barriers.

I was watching from the startline area and saw the body work flying from there. I immediately knew it would be a red flag. Just glad that all drivers were OK after a huge accident

Great footage mate. I imagine the sound of impact was much larger in person than the video lets on!

I was seated at Hailwoods grandstand when this happened! Terrible crash, happy to see the driver managed to scramble himself out!! The entire panel flew off leaving the frame which either shows the sheer force of impact, or the frailty of the cars body. Or even both!

That's a crazy crash there. Oh another note, how is the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series perceived in the UK? To me, when Euros think NASCAR they think 'driving in circles', but the Euro Series has both road and oval courses. The stands look mostly full at Brands Hatch!

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of live tv coverage. But brands hatch turns American once a year for what they call "american speedfest" with American displays and show cars and it seems to be getting bigger each year (as you can see by the crowds). And this NASCAR series is the headline event which people really seem to get into as the racing is very close and competitive.

What I find amazing is the Stewards view that the #9 caused the accident when the#9 was nowhere near the original contact. If anyone cause the the accident it was the #67. The #9 was an innocent party

Pretty reckless driving there, going three wide right after Paddock hill is not a good idea.

How the hell do all the panels just fly off a race car like that?! That's gotta be one of the most crazy things I've seen

***** It's not for making the "car look nicer." It's for aerodynamics and driver protecting, lest you want objects flying through the roll cage and potentially hitting drivers.

***** Yeah, because they spend days on end in the wind tunnel to make the car look "nicer."

The most important thing that needs to be looked at here is the fact that the shell of the car flew off nearly perfectly. I question the manufacturing of these cars because if that body isn't properly attached, what other parts of the car aren't properly attached?
@TacticalCardboard
@TacticalCardboard 9 жыл бұрын
itscrizzy The body isn't structural at all, it's just some panels to provide some better aerodynamics and make it look like a car. The roll cage beneath it is the bit that matters, that is the entirety of the car's structure. That is what a tube framed car is, just some tubes with a body on it. The tubes are the frame, everything else is just there because it's supposed to be. If you watch a local short track oval race you'll see one of the late model guys each week dragging the rear bumper cover. LOL

The body panels are simply fairings for aero and sponsors etc. the roll cage and subframe along with side skeletal structure make for the actual "car." Scary crash!!

it´s too dangerous to stand there with that low fence and the tyres before it. the tyres will make a racecar jump over the fence, like it happened at the nürburgring three months ago.
