Beating Madden to the punch on becoming a "Free-to-Play" model is going to be the biggest flex on EA in the long run. Not being handcuffed to the annual dev cycle is going to maximize opportunities for innovation. Unreal 5 definitely closes the gap visually. Gameplay has to be KING tho. As long as the gameplay is the primary focus of improvement and not just alt game modes and aesthetics then it has the potential to be great.

I am excited for the game but I’m keeping my hopes on check and not give myself unrealistic expectations. Now the game is free so obviously the developers are taking a hit in this financially but I’m sure they hope that enough people download it, play it a lot and it’s really well received. If that happens then I expect another game but this one will of course cost money

UE5 is also WAY easier to work with, compared to Frostbite engine which devs don't want to work with because it handcuffs you to EA.

@@abuckeye26 Dave was a single dev trying his best to improve his game each year with what he could muster. The money he received went to motion capture rentals with local U-Sports teams (Canadian Football’s equivalent to the NCAA), making deals with sponsors to get licensed equipment, tons of work towards coding in Unity & getting others on board to help with acquiring logos, UI & marketing. I feel people put their expectations way too high for a game that had 1 main dev, and while the old MF weren’t perfect, they had promise & helped us get to this point. Was the price a little high? Sure. But given the amounts people spend on Madden every year? A drop in the bucket.

If 2K just remastered or remade APF2K8 and included a franchise mode and a creation suite, that would automatically compete with Madden even without an NFL license these days. I have a feeling their arcade game is going to flop. If they made a generic true simulation game and let users create/customize/upload and download: teams, logos, rosters, draft classes, stadiums, it would blow EA and Madden out of the water. With that being said I am looking forward to this release as it looks like it will have all those things.

I heard that a bunch of ex-NFL players were used in the motion capture. As long as the development team knows how to put together a playbook for each team's individual offensive and defensive schemes. Overall I'm excited. I loved blitz the league. It was a sad day when Madden became the only NFL licensed game because I knew that without competition EA would get complacent and the quality would suffer.

A thought that could be helpful for this game, especially for the visibility of these games is get the license for the other leagues not named NFL. Go get the new XFL, USFL, and the CFL heck if you can get the permission to get the AAF teams that would be great as well. You could in fact get the rule set and the information for the Arena teams as this is still a ongoing situation. This could be the product for them and allow those leagues to shine in their own right in a game that embraces the diversity of American football in all its wonderful forms

I really hope if people can customize leagues that we can get things like starting the a franchise in 1964 or 1991 or 2005. It’s where I want to see 2ks franchise go and a football game with that option would be amazing. Pic a year, start there.

Hearing "Free to Play" makes me a little nervous as I know that model traditionally comes with a lot of microtransactions but hopefully it's not for gameplay advantages and more for customization items. I think it could be a great strategy to bring in new players wanting a change up for Madden, kind of reminds me of when 2k made NFL 2K5 $19.99 as opposed to the $49.99 standard (don't quote me on the standard price my memory is foggy from that time) AAA games were charging for new titles including Madden. if the F2P model gets Maximum Football the traction they need we could see them put a lot of pressure on Madden. I'm keeping an eye on this for sure

I can wait for Canadian rules... I want it to be smooth... I have CanuckPlay's original Canadian Rules game and the catching was almost impossible. At least it's US college too, which is something I have missed for so many years.

I'm interested in the development of this game. It's great to see them not tied to a NCAA/NFL license. Gives them much more freedom.. plus they could allow modding for it for those that want to add something more 'authentic'

I hope they have a single players mode where you can take an athlete from high school to college, to pros. High school all star games, College all American games, and pro bowls. That way I’ll play every single game and won’t have to start over for a new game the next year!

If 2k sports can do a sim game by rebooting All-Pro Football 2k like this but maybe bring in XFL and USFL teams as well as having the customization ability to download rosters and relocate or expand teams to 36 teams like the current gen myleague game modes. If they made APF2k as NBA 2k without the licenses like pes I'd be happy with that as long as I can download jerseys and rosters.

Seems like the relocation bit is easy enough, just change the team name/colors. I hope they allow unlimited team slot expansion so that the community can recreate the entire NCAA, or make something even bigger.

You didn’t seem to mention or demo upscaling via FSR or RSR. Why not? On the AOKZOE A1, I get anywhere from 50-75fps on most games with high settings, upscale via FSR to 1200p. Pretty much the same upscaling to 1600p on the GPD Win Max 2. Cyberpunk 2077 runs at 40fps with medium settings at these resolution, with FSR.

I've been saying games are going to head to free to play for the base game and then have microtransactions to monetize. That way people will pay more accordingly to the quality of the game. Personally I am more likely to spend money in the game if it's a high quality game and has replay factor. Also I would love to see the game allow you to load pre-set rules closer to whatever type league you want to play. Example of what I mean is college, NFL, XFL, etc.

Usually I don't like F2P and would rather pay a base price to access the full game but I think it's necessary to lower the barrier to entry if they want to compete with Madden. People forget that part of the reason 2k5 was so successful is that it was 20 bucks on release compared to the 50 that EA was charging for Madden.

Love there plans! They hit 2 things right off the bat.. Free to Play. And Full Customization. It’s literally all we have asked from Madden for years and they just ignore it? PLEASE READ: what they’re attempting to do will change the scope of sports games, they’re essentially making the game become like Fortnite. Because there’s no Licensing, you can essentially make new seasons of the game, and because it’s on a correct engine, they can actually add animations and hard code that into the game. This will allow for them to make a firm gameplay style and THEN add alllll the customizable Nick nacks that make it familiar to us all. This could potentially have a life span of close to 4, 5 calendar years. Damn y’all years from now we may be using this as the basis of how we like sports game moving forward…

It would be smart to get all the smaller leagues on board with this in a later update. Canadian Rules: CFL-(Plus U Sports) American Rules: XFL USFL EFL LFA. They could even do Arena as well if they add all the different ruleset they say they are doing. IFL CIF and AFL(Coming back next year) and Flag Football too.

After not buying any Football game since an Xbox football game years ago I finally purchased Madden about 3 years ago and it felt like I was watching the game simulate the catching and running of the players. It was so boring, unresponsive and felt disconnected. I could not believe people keep buying this game. It’s no fun at all. All of this is what I’ve been screaming for YEARS!! I could never figure out why NCAA or Madden couldn’t figure that out!! I’m stoked we’ll be able to continue our franchise and dynasties without having to restart every damn year!!!
