There's something quite mesmerising and almost organic in the way the stone rolls off the grader blade. Love it!

330 or 350? My notion is that Chris will go with the 330 because it is easier to transport. But I bet his heart is with the bigger machine.

350 bigger counterweight for that bucket
@glennspreeman1634

Chris said the bigger machine was out of his budget when looking at them. Transport is a big consideration as well. Unavoidable expense and fewer flatbeds available to call.

I'm betting chris goes with the 350, less hours and bigger machine..
@MemphisApplegate

I know Chris is an honest guy, yet I don't totally buy the "budget" thing. His budget is really a number he wants to pay, not a number that would preclude him from buying anything he wants. But his also practical, and the 330 will likely be the best business decision. @@glennspreeman1634

When I saw the flash of lightning, I immediately went back to the day when you had some lightning occur while you were building the pond. You weren't that far from where you were today! That would be something if you did smell the smoke from your house. Thanks for sharing, Chris. I love that you show it isn't all sunshine and soft, easily dug dirt. Can't wait for the next installment!

Wow, Mother Nature is working with you instead of against you for once. Perfect weather for gravel all morning and then perfect weather for an old style LD18 burn. Nice!!! Even the machine is timing it's needs for regen at optimal time. You must have been doing something right lately Chris. I must say the road is coming beautifully. I have lived on gravel for a long time and I have seen good gravel roads and then moved to places with bad gravel roads. With how you do it, those folks will be very happy because when you do them, you do it right. Crazy how many ways to screw it up taking short cuts, but not you. Well done young man.

I can’t wait to see which excavator you decided to buy and see it in action. Y’all definitely needed the rain in your area. We’ve gotten more rain here in Western Kentucky lately than I can ever remember for this time of year. One guy to the north of where I live and closer to the Ohio River said he got 14 inches in one storm a few weeks ago. It damaged two main roads that had never been damaged in my lifetime that I can remember.

It may not have been in the direction you thought your day was going at first, but this is still solid progress, and actually, I don't remember seeing you able to get rid of burn piles with quite that size of a safety margin before, so I reckon that counts as a lucky break.
