@@itishpaul5797 razor clams are called razor clams because the edge can be pretty sharp. In my case I managed to land feet-first onto an opened critter when jumping into the water. Sharp edge meets soft skin, and next thing you know you got 20 stitches and your holiday is ruined

I remember as a boy when the razor clam limit at Ocean Shores was 15 per person, per day. My whole family usually got our limit in about 2 hours every morning. Then we'd clean them, shuck them, and my mom would can them, all while camping at the beach. We had enough cans in the pantry for clam chowder all year.

As a kid we'd go out to Bodega head and do something similar with Horseneck clams. Pops had open ended claming barrels that 2 guys would stand on top of and work down into the sandbar. This prevented the hole from collapsing once you started digging. The trick was finding a spot that had multiple breath holes within a 3' diameter

I live on the long beach peninsula and that's a razor clam dug a limit just the other day along with hundreds of other people our clams are checked regularly by the state for toxin levels and right now all is good and the clams are big ! We love them they are soooo tasty !😅😅😅😅😅

​@@joshuabartley656 My teens were spent up and down the peninsula. I'd chop and fry up the clams, throw them in whatever was on hand. Stir fry, ramen, mac and cheese, even canned soups and stews. Try putting them inside a grilled cheese with tomato soup on the side. Chowder's a classic, but ever put them on baked potatoes or in a BLT with strips instead of bacon? Yum! For whatever reason, they do not do well thrown into texmex. We couldn't make clam nachos or burritos work, as much as we tried. XD Oh, and clean them well. The younger sisters learned that the mouth full of grit way.
