Bruce, everyone is congratulating you on your honey pull this year, and it is very impressive and well deserved! I have to mention that the honey is nice but the land is fantastic! What beautiful property you and your family have! How truly fortunate you all are! Thanks for sharing, and for everything you do for the beekeeping community.

@brucesbees3 ай бұрын
@StanGore-mk8ow yeah I thought about breaking that section out.
@rtxhoneybees3 ай бұрын
I use a similar method for storing my honey supers. You ought to consider not separating sections, put a shim on top, put your balls or crystals on a paper plate on top. The gases are heavier than air. They settle to the bottom. You can also refresh the balls every month or two from the top. Maybe try it on one stack just so you see how it works. I hope you will do some videos on how you plan to sell that much honey. That is a lot to move! Thanks for sharing.

Great Harvest Bruce. Even greater homeplace. What a place to have grown up. I was fortunate to have spent summers on my grandparents farm. Times I will never forget and always cherish. Harvest for me will happen in two weeks. Ten new hives, new area (learning the flows up here near Sandpoint ID) and horrid queen issues this year. I don't know if I'll get four supers this year. I just went out and had a discussion with the girls, they have two week on a knapweed bloom....get to it girls. 😃

Great harvest! Enjoyed the video! How did Greg Burns queens/hives perform this year? Do the Caucasian mix do well in the South?
@brucesbees3 ай бұрын
Yes it was a fun video to do. I really messed up last year somehow with the Ozark bees. That is where I put all those Michael Palmer and Greg’s queens. Lost all those bees except I think there are still 6 colonies up there, 5 of which did well this year. I have one of the Michael Palmer queens left and I think I still have either one of Greg’s or a daughter of his queen though I am really not sure. I think the issues were more a matter of beekeeper error more than quality of queens.
@fordman19523 ай бұрын
@@brucesbees Yes my bees multiplied so quickly i couldn't stop them from swarming. Was hoping the Caucasians were slower to swarm.
@brucesbees3 ай бұрын
My little bit of experience with them and carniolans is that they can brood way down in the winter time but explode when a flow hits, like overnight it seems. They are very sensitive and fine tuned to environmental changes.

We had around 100 production colonies this year and our total for the year was around 9300 pounds.

@@brucesbees sorry to bother i am still new and learning…a colony refers to a single/individual hive right? Woow thats over 4 tons…i jus started baiting for my first top bar hive this week hope to reach your level in a few years. Asking and Based in zimbabwe
@brucesbees3 ай бұрын
@brytmaposa9941 yes a colony is often interchanged with the word hive. Technically the hive is the equipment or home that a colony of bees lives in but hive is also often used in place of colony. How this makes sense. And please be sure to ask any questions any time. That is the only way you can learn.

Wow, maybe you give me a good tip with the ice crystals. We use liquid glacial acetic acid. It’s a pain in the …, because you need to refill it every time. I hope I can find those ice crystals here in the Netherlands. But how long do they work for you? When is your springtime overthere? Thanks and take care
