TBYS completely lies in his post, too. not ONCE did Noah accuse him of doxxing Illy. Not. Once. Omitting Noah’s video allows this lie (and several others) to be promoted as the facts. That alone should also help undecided people understand where TBYS’s sense of personal responsibility and honesty is. (Nowhere in sight). It’s important to cover this fairly, considering someone and their family’s safety is involved, with the police, a legal battle and threats of violence. And guess what, it isn’t TBYS. Nobody deserves what Illy went through and because she has a history of mental health issues that leave her already vulnerable (include s-ideation), I hope she's in an okay place.
@candace34936 ай бұрын
I really appreciate you commenting this. It seems like anything short of condoning fat shaming or other contempt/harassment towards fat people is conflated with absolute fat acceptance or denying harms people can face gaining weight. Illy didn't deserve that and her content always resonated with me as a fat, autistic woman, it feels especially tough to be visible online. As much as lifestyle factors (diet, exercise, etc.) could contribute to people's weight, I became overweight and fluctuated between overweight and obesity due to adverse side effects from multiple medications. I often feel forced in this position, no matter how many times I've dieted or been too restrictive with fasting. When I was smaller, people did not prescribe starvation. It's actually detrimental to the pain I suffer. There are some aspects as well, like my own risk of s-ideation from things my mental and other chronic illnesses that make it hard to engage, so I will probably have to actively take a step back from tuning into this for my own well being/bordering on safety on bad days. I hope discourse towards fat people can improve over time and we can stop politicizing and speculating on other people's bodies.

If you're not their doctor, just shut the hell up. You don't know what they looked like or felt like last week, you don't know what they're doing, and even if you did, it's none of your business, and if your only motivation is to make sure this person knows that you think they're disgusting, *WHY?*

The thing about the Ilymations thing, is that TBYS was already a political commentator of sorts, so it was already political. The use of 'woke' didn't help their case either. Also Noah didn't accuse TBYS of the harder shit, just pinned some blame on them for causing the whole debacle under the false pretenses. Him getting this upset over Noah's video mirrors how Ily felt about TBYS's video, even having similar points. Noah proved he cut around parts of the videos to make Ily look bad in hindsight, including parts where she specified that people should pay attention to dietary restrictions, and parts where she mentioned and countered the claim of being pro-obesity at the end of the video. Another huge isn't just the censorship with Stellar Blade, but the marketing. For months, even just days before the release they showed uncensored outfits, announce less than a week before the release that it would be uncensored in all regions, then they censor it with a day one patch after taking your money. Many people, rightfully, believe this should be considered fraud/false advertising. Especially since the director said the outfits were changed to "What they always intended." Which first, why would you waste your team's time making outfits that you supposedly never intended, and second that basically admits to fraud. They supposedly always intended for the censored version, but showed uncensored stuff in the marketing the whole time, the definition of false advertising.

He falsely advertised a Kickstarter game that he's been making for years gouging his own fans for Pre-order packs for a game that doesn't exist, in fact it's the same exact game he showed off years ago, he never developed it. THATS false advertising, theres just way more problems than skimpy outfits. We got microtransactions, forced obsolescence, employee mass layoffs and making less money, DRM, Live Services, etc. The fact that this is somehow more important than the ongoing Stop Killing Games campaign just shows the lack of actual care about anything for gamers. 17:21 The annoying thing is it's absolutely not a matter of hypocrisy, but rather it's a matter of the game coming from a much more conservative part of the world when it comes to violent and risque imagery in media. Korea (Where Stellar Blade was developed) and Japan (Where their publisher is based) are both incredibly infamous within the games industry for requiring large amounts of censorship on games in order for them to be allowed on store shelves. This has caused issues in the past for Left 4 Dead, The Last of Us 2, Baldur's Gate 3, and a large amount of other western IPs that make their way onto store shelves in Asian countries. The censorship is so extreme that The Callisto Protocol outright cancelled their Japanese localization because of how many changes CERO (Japanese rating board) was demanding with regards to the amount of gore in the game. So it's basically a matter of "Yeah, no shit it got censored on release." If you look at the regional differences Western games have been their US/EU versions and their JP/KOR releases, you'd be able to piece together on your own that any changes that have occurred would be the result of CERO/GRAC (Korea's rating board), and not any sort of anti-Asian bias from the Western games industry. And before anyone asks "Why can't they increase the gore/risque content for Western releases?", there's three reasons: 1.) At best, adding more gore and revealing costumes does nothing to help sales. At worst, it creates a demand among their local playerbase for the extra content added into the overseas versions of the game, which would piss off CERO/GRAC. 2.) Assuming the translated guidelines I'm reading are accurate, making a "less censored" international version as a studio based in these countries seems to be in violation of CERO and GRAC's policies, which could result in the game being pulled from shelves in their home countries or 1.) Game studios in Japan and Korea make games for their Japanese and Korean audiences, not their overseas ones. We're the "other countries" in this case; as long as the game's allowed on store shelves, they don't really value our opinions.

@@theotherky The process of getting a game rated is an ongoing thing from before the initial trailers are released until after the physical game hits store shelves. That, and digital products are held to a different standard than physical releases, and you can release a digital demo for your game before its been properly rated. Case in point: Digital platforms like Steam aren't required to get the games they host rated by ESRB, PEGI, or CERO as the games are not being physically sold on store shelves. The rating boards primarily exist to ensure physical releases are properly categorized to ensure a parent doesn't accidentally get their kid an Eroge or a Binding of Isaac because they got the wrong vibe from the box art or title.

@@CaptainBeebi That's not what I mean. If you're in a country known for its strict censorship rules, why market a product that ignores those rules when you know it's not going to pass the content check, because if we're both talking about the same Korea, I'm not sure even the demo would have been allowed to release in the state it did.

@@theotherky Probably because ShiftUp wasn't marketing the game through boobies and heavy gore. The teasers were heavily focused on the story of the game, which is Eve being sent to earth in order to reclaim it from monsters that drove humanity to near-extinction. They had her in pretty normal (by anime sci-fi standards) outfits in the teasers, it was just people gooning over the unlockables without acknowledging that they're just meant to be a reward for the players, as opposed to the focus of the game. I can honestly believe that ShiftUp didn't expect anyone to notice or care about the changes, given they seemed to believe people were actually excited for the game because of the story and gameplay they were teasing.

What makes me upset about the Stellar Blade censorship is that we have it as a Sony exclusive first and the developer’s answer the censorship, I think it was something like “this is what we ultimately decided will be as the final uncensored version”, frames it so that any future releases or ports will also be the same as before. That’s also not going into the double standards that mods have been getting heat for, like the ones that make women look hotter in BG3 and whatnot so you can imagine how admins would react if Stellar Blade gets mods that make Eve look even more revealing.

While I don't mind the redesigns, I understand why some people are angry. If anything, give people the option for the costume variations and gore. One thought I had is if this is more about appeasing ratings boards of other countries? For example, CERO, Japan's game ratings group, goes harshly on violence. The Dead Space remake didn't release there and Mortal Kombat hasn't been officialy released there since MK Trilogy, and that was in 1996! All because of the gory nature of them. Sakurai had also said before that development on smash ultimate was tricky with female characters because of CERO. Hence the altered designs on Pyra and Mythra, among others. All to preserve their desired rating. It's possibly because of CERO that Mai from SNK didn't make it either. But it might be Sony being weird and selective with this. Some games are more censored than others. Omega Labyrinth, for example, is more censored on PS4 than other systems. And I think this is more frequent on non western games. Tl;dr: It might be Sony, the ratings boards from other countries might be stupidly strict, or both! I'm cool if they made the "censored" stuff options.

It's not about how much is being censored or what is being censored. The fact that you and others don't particularly care shows that they're getting what they want. Soon it'll be be the norm for them to show you one thing and give you something else. You like jiggle physics? They'll temper that down until slowly but surely it doesn't exist. You like shooting games? They'll orange tip the guns next, and slowly make the games with nerf guns
@DragonEdge106 ай бұрын
That is what we call a slippery slope fallacy. Regardless of your stance on this specific instance, to claim that this would somehow set a precedent of censorship is markedly in the territory of the slippery slope fallacy, because at the end of the day what matters is not in fact censorship or whether it exists, but rather what amount of perceived censorship there is (regardless of whether there is any objectively) and whether consumers care enough about it. Censorship of sexual content by nature is less cared about for the majority of casual gamers, especially in a case like SB where it's objectively speaking so minimal that people only really care on principle (or because culture war grifting). If it did get changed to the point where Eve was literally in the most modest outfit ever with no sex appeal, I'm willing to bet that would actually have tangible financial repercussions and affect their sales, which is why they would never do that. Similarly, there will literally never be an instance of a game getting censored from real guns to nerf guns, because that level of change marks a complete shift in perception for the game and by extension likely shifts the entire market demographic. The demographic that is interested in the mature shooters will also not just disappear, so even IF a company decides to completely obliterate their existing fanbase (which, without some extreme external factors would never happen) by eventually moving from bloody shooting to nerf guns, someone else will simply take up that vacuum and release their own game to fill that role. Gaming doesn't exist in a closed and planned market, the "they" that you're claiming will censor everything until it's fisher price can do it all they want but others will take up their old role so long as the market for it exists. People will vote with their wallets in regards to what they care about being censored/changed, so regardless of where you stand on the matter on principle, it's a foolish and fallacious argument to equate it to a slippery slope. Just the same as how a lack of censorship on gun violence in games doesn't lead to a slippery slope of IRL gun violence, it's regarded as a fallacy in almost every situation for the very reason. Should it ever be the case that such levels of censorship do become the norm, that's not an inherent issue that's to do with censorship, that's simply the state of the gaming market and what consumers by and large want, or at the very least they don't care about the things that are being censored/changed. To be clear, I am NOT weighing in on whether the censorship should exist, nor do I even want to remotely engage in that conversation. But if you're gonna engage in this discussion, don't use fallacious arguments to fearmonger and pretend as if your stance is some noble must-have stance against the tyranny of some boogyman oppressor that will have a vice grip on the media we consume if we don't fight back. This is the games market, a generally free market with little to no real regulation outside of age guidelines, not a totalitarian government.

@@DragonEdge10 I view it as incremental coercion. A developer promising one thing and delivering another is a slippery slope, even if it was the publisher who forced the changes (though we'll most likely never know because of a non-disparagement clause). Kinda weird to dismiss Noah's words but then read an entire response to them. Omni if you wanna do news/commentary, you need to be more thorough. I highly doubt this was intentional, but you've done way more to boost the words of a charlatan than you have the person who's actually being victimized here.

The fact that omni says "I have a video on illy hope I dont get striked for that 😅" shows how biased the whole situation is. Literally TBYS mocked her, on how she dresses, how she eats, and how she wears her hair. You can qualify it as "criticize" but the thing is, illy video is an animation. If you sant to criticize the video, cool. But going out of your way and trying to find pictures of the creator to give "criticisms" is just plain bullying...so if omni did that yeah maybe he will get striked...again "hahah I might get striked as well 😅😅😅😅" is such a low hanging fruit.

I watched Noah video and it actually made me realize how scumy TBYS was in depicting Illy as a danger to children. I mean, I already found him to be a weirdo since he’s part of the anti woke crowd. But the fact that he’s trying to downplay his influence on the people doxxing her is pretty shitty. He knows his viewer base and he purposely portrayed her as a “unhinged triggered woke commie trying to silence criticism” to get clicks from the anti woke crowd. All Illy did was talk about her personal experience with her body and TBYS spun it as woke propaganda.

2:10 I can't stress this enough, this didn't "become" a political debate, TBYS is a political channel that called Illymation is a political term in his videos, it started political and was made political by TBYS, thinking otherwise is just wrong. Not to dissolve any blame from Noah who as another political channel getting involved in this definitely escalated the political issues. Although I don't think what Illymation said in her video was inherently political it also just has roots in politics, people on the left are typically with the fat acceptance while people on the right typically aren't.

Im anti censorship on a lot of things. This Stellar Blade drama is kinda crazy though. For the past few months we've seen gooners praise the game for having an attractive main character and how it was the rebellion against main stream trends in gaming. Shift Up gave there word that they wouldn't censor themselves, and unfortunately they broke their promise. ItS hard to take all the guys seriously when they say "its about the principle" when one of their main points is the removal of a slur, some blood, and making a sexy outfit 5% less sexy. They're outrage was so big that Sony gave refunds, which almost never happens. The last time I remember that happening was Cyberpunk's launch when the game was almost not playable on consoles. The coomers win once again. I wonder if this change was made by Shift Up without Sony's input, would devs or creators patching games be seen as them censoring themselves. If an artist creates a piece, but the reception of the first draft causes them to tweak the final draft, would that be them censoring themselves cause its against the original vision? In al honesty seems like the best way to solve this is enabling a mode switch for the original and patched versions for players to pick. That way they can appeal to both parties. Im sure all this will be made pointless once the game hits PC in a year or two. All the mods for nudes, slurs, and extra gore will be a few clicks away.

In the end, these people have too mcuh time in their hands to make this a bigger deal than it is..games changing after a demo is a norms, not new. Lol i cant really take them seriously if this is what they are fighting for.. things like this is reason why they say gamers are unserious.

I still believe it’s about the principal, regardless of whether you like staring at ass/porn in your free time or not. It’s still just a not okay thing to do in general. And the many people acting like it is is crazy to me tbh. Also can we really stop calling it a “slur” it was a piece of graffiti with the word “hard” that is plastered in multiple areas of the game. And it was unfortunately placed next to a sign with the letter r. I highly doubt they intended for it to just mean the actual “hard r” and it’s completely possible they meant for it to say “harder” or some shit. Why would anyone in their right mind do it intentionally. And the reason why people even know about it isn’t just people “complaining” about it it’s because there were multiple articles taking this ultimately minuscule thing and making it look like the company was the hellspawn of satan for it…which idk….sounds wack to me ngl -_-

@@esosaodiase4482 I don't have a problem with sexy games or characters. I think the reason know one can take them seriously is everytime they spoke about the game and Eve's design it was them saying "This is what real gamers want. There are people still moving through this world hating Star Trek Discovery for bringing politics into their precious childhood memories, when they didn't have a damn clue what they were watching. It's very difficult to tell a story worth telling that doesn't touch on anything political, or can't be interpreted in terms of politics, because politics *is peoples' lives.* If you don't think politics involves or affects you, you're just in a group currently privileged. And I do very specifically say *currently* privileged, because as white women in the US are starting to find out, if you don't stay awake, informed and energised to defend your rights, they can be taken right out from under you.

Censorship used to bother me, but these days, I could care less most of the time. I see the argument. But when it comes down to it, people are going to complain one way or the other. You can't please everyone. These days, I get more confused than mad. And when it comes to Stellar Blade, I wasn't interested even with the censorship. The game isn't my cup of tea. But if I had to say how I would have felt if it was me... The first is understandable considering how some people get with that word and even then, seems they have a similar issue. The second is confusing to me, but it wouldn't have stopped me from playing it if this was something I was interested in.
@zorquil6 ай бұрын
I feel like the only reason why censorship is starting to get a lot more alarming for people is due to... politics. Again. From my understanding, more US laws are trying to pass bans on restricting NSFW sites, and more sites have been banning NSFW material which leaves those type of artists deplatformed and having to find another site. So now more pushback is starting to appear against NSFW censorship, even if it's more minute than others. Of course, I might be looking too far on the outward, but I usually find that things like these usually domino into other situations and events. It is intriguing that an M-rated game is getting these small bits of censorship though.
@Welpidk6 ай бұрын
There’s no way he can say it’s about censorship and not the nudity when games that are bigger if not equal get banned but then they won’t argue for that game. Balatro was banned from multiple countries for gambling even tho it’s not for money and plenty of bootlegs got passed, not even soft censoring completely removed and banned but no one argued for it. But suddenly when there’s nudity it’s all about the censorship? And who the hypocrite? The company for making the design choice to change up their game they design? Or publishers for showing an already censored section scenes but not allowing cleavage that isn’t censored? The only part I do agree with is with false advertising, they portrayed the game leading up to release with the uncensored outfits and showing off the nudity but if they suddenly switched up then it’s foul play.
@esosaodiase44826 ай бұрын
Multiple different people who talk about sexual censorship in games also talk about censorship in other things. I imagine the reason some people didn’t talk about balatro wasn’t about the nudity but because it’s an indie game that wasn’t really on their radar? I literally haven’t heard of the game until recently myself and most people I see always talk about how wrong that shit was. Please don’t use one singular example of people not talking about something and make assumptions on that….there’s a lot of other situations you could’ve referenced from the mid 2010’s to now but balatro is the one you chose? 🤦♂️

I literally remember when that one horror game with the Winnie the Pooh figure got censored, everyone and their mother talked about it. Even people who are talking about stellar blade rn.
@minayandere26776 ай бұрын
I mean from my perspective the whole petition thing is what should be done since the developers were selling a narrative that they wouldn't censor the game at all this of course enraged people because it's like going to a burger restaurant ordering a burger that clearly on the picture have cheese and its called a cheese burger and when they bring it out its just a beef patty on a bun because they decided that eating cheese was bad thanks to the constant barking of people that hate cheese. Now that creates a problem doesn't? And the biggest theory is that it got censored because of xenophobic people (don't know about this one chief) but so many people pointed out that Sony haves strict rules about censorship. This censorship also applies to Japanese devs and it mainly for their games. If you want more info look up Sony censorship policy on Japan. And that's mainly the base of that claim
