This is such a tiny and irrelevant detail, but I just wanted to say how much I loved when Darcy came home and you said to Pearl “let her have a couple of big bounces and then you can hop on together” and I don’t know, it was so tiny but there was just something about how it was so validating to both girls and their excitement that reminded me of what a fabulous mother you and are and just showing how constantly aware you are of your girls and their feelings, and watching them both being given so much love and attention both separately and together I just thought was so lovely

When I was 17 we moved house and a family with a little girl was moving in. When they viewed it she started running around the garden in complete excitement about our trampoline! Shouting oh please please can we have a trampoline when we live here!! We decided to leave it there for them (we weren't little kids anymore!) and they rang us to thank us as it had just made the little girl so happy. The thought of her walking in and seeing the trampoline was hers to keep still makes me smile to this day

I was the Pearl of the family, my poor mother was constantly running around after me, I was a whirlwind, whilst my older sister used to just sit reading a book looking at me, like, what’s wrong with her!! 😂😂 Darcy is such a kind little girl and Pearl reminds me of the saying she be but little but she is fierce! We had a trampoline growing up and used to love playing a sort of dodge ball whenever there were at least three of us. Two would bounce and the others would aim a lightweight ball at us (below the knee only!) and if you got hit you'd swap with the thrower. Such fun! Some of my happiest memories.

This is a BRILLIANT question. I never, ever, ever feel jealous that they have the childhood I so desperately wanted. I feel healed that they have this. I feel like my world has righted itself because I have broken the trauma cycle and I've come out of that with the capacity to love and to give and to be a thousand times better than my abuser could ever even dream of. I'm enjoying giving them this safe, happy time and when I see them living in it, I feel glad. I'm sad I didn't have a decent childhood but I separate that as a 'bad chapter' and now is a 'good chapter'.

Love this! Like that you're promoting blended families as strong believer that with the right step parents it can be like having 2 sets of parents. I’ll never forget waking up on Christmas to a trampoline when I was about 7. My parents couldn’t always afford much, but I got that and I was obsessed. I had it until I was about 13 (unfortunately after lots of love it wasn’t as safe as it once was). As I grew older I fell asleep on it plenty 😅

Oh when my family got a trampoline when I was little it was the most exciting ever! Funnily enough my parents put it in the attic (we have a huge one) and we had so many sleepovers on the trampoline and I would spend whole days playing on it. In hindsight I must have been really fit

Louise, same thing happened to me a while ago with the SD card. For me it worked if I put it into an SD card adapter, that plugs in via USB to your laptop. Give it a try! I think because it read it the same way my camera did, it worked! Hope this helps 😊

my brother has ADHD, and when he was growing up, we went through two of those giant trampolines in like 8 years because he jumped on them so much. it was great for getting rid of excess energy, especially in the evening when my parents didn't want him out on his bike. just remember to follow the care instructions very carefully! our second one actually broke down on us because we didn't store it properly one winter. by then, my brother was in college and not using it anymore, but it's definitely something to watch out for!

I know you mean this in a kind way, but I'd say she's "assertive and confident" instead of bossy. Often (primarily) young girls get stuck with this label. I think Pearl's just a natural leader! :)

when my bother and I were young (my brother was around 8 or 9 and I was around 11 or 12 yo) my mum worked for spring free trampolines here in New Zealand so we received one. My younger brother and I loved our trampoline and even now (at 22 and 19) are still using it on a weekly basis. They’re incredible trampolines.
