Former chief Justice Maureen O'Connor was one Republican on court who was very outspoken about the gerrymandering the Ohio legislature was doing with the maps. I am a 77 year old disabled veteran with lots of health issues and I am quickly losing hope for any future. For the first time in my life I feel like our country is on the threshold of its demise. I remember the feelings of sadness and doom everyone had during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. My mom cooked Sunday dinner every day of the week because she thought it might be the last good meal we would have. I feel like that now. I feel betrayed that it has gone this far. I'm too old and too sick to get out and protest and the media, even though they will be the first to go, have failed miserably in their duty to report the truth. Now the only thing that I can do is cast my one single vote for Democracy and hope enough others will show up to do the same. Vote Blue!

Hey! You are not alone. I well remember that particular day, Bay of Pigs, and, frankly, when playing outside looking to the skies to see missiles? Flashes of Light? However, I understand your despair. What and HOW will you defeat, investigate, whatever, The Heritage House, Project 2025? SECOND: Guerilla Tactics; If you have Access to a Computer & Printer, print out BULLETPOINTS of Project 2025. Go to Peoples Guide Project 2025. This will specify the digested specifics of this 900 pg of the Heritage House Plan as outlined by the Democratic Party. Print it, or what you need, on white paper, and w wherever you go; restaurants, public restrooms, churches, grocery store restrooms, anywhere. Sure, some to most will be tossed; but that's not your problem. If you can talk your family, friends, to do the same, then go for it. It's not much. But, it's SOMETHING. I understand your despair; I have it too. But, believe me; once that tidal wave of despair washes over you, sit down, try to come to your senses, and try to think straight. This is what "They" want. Fair strategy makes a difference! I was Vice Chair of the Boulder County Democratic party in Colorado and worked extremely hard on Reapportionment. We traveled and educated voters about what the Constitution says, showed them maps where the lines needed to move, we educated folks on the priorities weighted more than others, and we helped folks learn how to express themselves effectively. We had over 90 people turn up at a single hearing in our county and brought dozens of letters from those who couldn't attend. Together with efforts in other counties, we got the Congressional lines turned clockwise and had many districts turn competitive. A competitive district is a good district and Dems will take that fight. This is so important and I hope Ohio will reach out if they would like to learn what we did. Ohio can do it!

I am an Ohio resident and someone who is committed to passing Citizens Not Politicians in this state. I helped to gather signatures to get the initiative on the ballot and have volunteered both for the speakers bureau and to go door to door. I am also a registered Democrat and on most issues a progressive. But when I accepted an officer’s commission in the Army I took an oath to protect government of, by and for the people. The most important part of that kind of government is for THE PEOPLE to pick their politicians, not for self-serving politicians to pick their voters in advance of an election. Political parties are private corporations who sell ideas to voters. In a fair election the political party who and the politicians who sell ideas that voters want will get elected. So, in this representative democracy, let’s let the people-not self serving parties and politicians-decide who will represent them. People Not Politicians!

In Australia we have an apolitical Federal Election Commission which controls _everything_ to do with elections - from registration, to boundaries, to counting. NO politicians in sight - all they do is campaign. We *never* have the problems that you're experiencing and *nobody* ever queries the results. (I've posted this a few times because it's time the USA started looking at other countries for solutions.)

Would not need an amendment, legislation from Congress would do. The Voting Rights Act followed that path, and a revived Voting Rights Act could include gerrymandering. Unified control of House, Senate and White House is all it takes. Difficult, but not impossible.

This has also happened in Michigan. In 2018 a referendum passed outlawing gerrymandering. In 2022 the Democrats took the House and Senate, so, with a Democrat Governor, there is now a trifecta in Michigan,, which hasn''t happened in 40 years!

As an Ohioan who used to be in district 3 and was shoved into district 15 a couple of years ago, I'd like to see a fair redistricting. They took mostly Black Democrat neighborhoods and stuck them in with White Republicans who moved here from Kentucky. Not enough of them to change the winner

It would be hilarious if the Democrats engineered a reverse uno card setting up industrial booms in Florida and Texas that would cause a couple million democrats to migrate there, thus crushing flat the current Republican voting majority in those states. You could actually lose twice that many in California and still easily win the governor and senate seats both for the Democrats due to the massive majority in that state, 11 million Dems vs 6 million Repubs in 2020.

The Oklahoma legislature passed a law to make it twice as hard for voters to get a ballot initiative on the ballot. The Christo Fascists here lost their minds 4 years ago when citizens VOTED to legalize marijuana. Now, they've changed the law out of fear that Oklahomans will legalize abortion. And they've gerrymandered Oklahoma City and Tulsa badly to hold onto their super majority 🤬 They hold 72 of 101 seats in the house and 40 of 48 seats in the senate....and our murder rate is still higher per capita than New York, #49 in education, bottom 3 in Healthcare, etc. 🙄

I am from Ohio and have friends and family there now. If you look up "Ohio districts" you will see that the most heavily populated areas are extremely divided! Cleveland is cut up in an unbelievable way!
