I would regear for 40s I would go 4.56. Thats a tall tire to spin on probably 3.73 stock
@hanksadventures41324 жыл бұрын
4.56 is even a little eh in my opinion. A 4.88 would be optimal due to the weight of the 4 door. But i definitely agree it needs to be regeared.

Alan Walker Yup, and a couple of OX LOCKERS.
@cargotoolshop53194 жыл бұрын
Agree with 4.88 gears, mine had 3.42 gears, I have heard of the early 90's trucks having 3.08 cause they were trying to get fuel mileage, these are SUV's not trucks and they were built that way
@dhsizemore44084 жыл бұрын
@@hanksadventures4132 @Cargo tool shop I had a hard time finding 4.88 for the front diff in my brother Tahoe. That's only reason I suggest 4.56 there very easy to find. The 4l60 would be happy either way
@hanksadventures41324 жыл бұрын
@@dhsizemore4408 true. That being a tahoe, its probably 3.55 stock, so putting a gear vendor's reduction drive would be almost the same as 4.88's. And gou save the headache of regearing... lol

Just remembered to do the math, 3.14x35 vs 3.14x40, that truck is going to move almost 16" farther with every rotation of the tire, stock tires are closer to 30/31" tall, it will move almost 30" farther than stock, 10 percent upgrade is all you can do with stock gears, go 4.56 or 4.88, I would find a 3/4 ton from diff, it will bolt right in a half ton, all the plow truck guys in Wisconsin have done that

Well, he does have a jack under there as well. Ever since those Harbor Freight jackstands (look similar), started failing and got recalled, I never go under there without BOTH jackstands AND the jack to back each other up. But it is dangerous to hammer or make shocks around those jackstands by themselves.
@that11gmc364 жыл бұрын
Better do gears front and rear. Anything over a 35 will kill everything under it without changing the gear ratio.
