It’s amazing how much a new project changes once you start it! You might as well do a proper job on the project before it’s really started. Consider your plans for the future first. Then do what is applicable when considering raising the roof, flooring, plumbing for your tank clean out system, and space for a proper office. You don’t want to do a project twice if it doesn’t fit plans for the future.

2:45 We have repurposed 2 used dairy bulk tanks on our farm. 1 dug into the ground for steam heating condensation collection and return pit. The other as a sparging tank for boiler return water. Stainless steel is perfect for both of these applications

We put in a new 10,000 litre milk tank in 2019 and it was one of the best things we ever done as well as putting in a new 14 unit Fullwood parlour in 2015 , we used to have 2 older tanks and they were to small and cost a lot to maintain

As someone who really doesn't know anything about dairy management except what I pick up from your vlogs, your existing set up really does look as though it needs simplifying and better management of space. No doubt those "rooms" are the result of piecemeal improvements over several years. Really interesting to know how milk is handled after it leaves the cow.

May I suggest you get your old friends out (the one who helped design the new barn) for some helpful hints or plans. They were so spot on with that job! I know you & Dad know the "flow" of your work spaces, but maybe they can give you some new ideas or at least confirm your plan. It's another big investment you want to maximize the opportunity. We changed from a 5400 litre tank which was about 30 years old to a new 11900 litres in 2020 and went 3 phase , the savings was incredible went from 54000 kwh's to 38000 kwh's and what's more produced more milk in 21 than 20, we also saved because we no longer have to pay extra for every day collection. The moral of the story being that even if a modern tank seems to be massively expensive the savings can be equally huge, when we add up the electricity and every day surcharge we will save the price of the tank in 4 and a half years and at the rate that electricity and diesel fuel prices are going up we will probably have the price saved in much less time.

Big question is can the tanker drive retrieve the milk, plus have you measured and doubled measured specially for the hose for the tanker to come in, next the floor maybe re-do it for the extra weight it looked weak. and last can you wash it out. And levels for the milk to drain out for tanker. I got my doubts if it fit in their but good luck.

We cange milking machine and bulk tank in 1995. Milking machine went in January February. Bulk tank went in July August . We shop around for a tank for soze and fit in we're the old tank was. When it came we were putting a new roof on milking paller at the time. Al they have to do lift out old put in new tank at the time . Milk had to be coated even day wile it was put in
