My brother used to work at a Waffle House. He was about 25 at the time, I was seven. He would essentially just babysit me at the Waffle House when our parents weren’t home. I had free rein over the jukebox, and being a little metalhead (my dad would always blast Metallica so I grew up with it), I would just crank ride the lightning on the jukebox. So many fights would happen. Looking back, it was fucking hilarious to watch two grown ass men fight in a Waffle House with Metallica playing in the background, as this little kid just kinda watched while the employees just stared in defeat. She did, however, find out that she was blacklisted from being hired at any Waffle House when she tried to apply for a position at a different location about 6 months after the fight. They also wrote her up for breaking a sugar shaker (ugh). Source: The worker (I believe her name is Hallie) posted a story time video on KZbin. Talked to them about their lives for a long time. I’m from Western Washington so the way they lived was pretty shocking. They worked for only a couple bucks an hour plus tips. I served there for a while. The wildest night was the time two drunk groups got in a full-on fight over "Don't Stop Believin'" on the jukebox. One table insisted it was the Eagles, the other insisted Journey, someone insulted someone else's mother and then all hell broke loose. We had to shut down the restaurant for 2 hours to clean up all the glass and ketchup. My coworker got smacked in the face with a full glass of sweet tea, the cook hid under the dish table, and a dude threatened to sue us because he got salsa on his $150 khakis. And then after we reopened some entitled bitch came in and demanded to sit at the one booth we hadn't finished cleaning bc it was full of soda, so we asked her to sit somewhere else and she started screaming about having us all fired because her daddy was important, or something.

I worked for Waffle House before I started working in state psychiatric hospital security. I can attest that, at least for the Waffle House I worked at, prior to a conditional offer of employment being extended to any applicant, the unit manager expected every applicant to provide documentation that showed advanced practitionship in either a regular martial art like karate or taekwondo or a certificate in unarmed combat issued by any certified instructor in the U.S. military. I also distinctly remember our local sheriff’s office would stop by intermittently to ensure that our documentations were up to date, as well as arrest and formally charge any person that had been dealt with already by the Waffle House staff on-duty that day. I get nostalgic every once in a while whenever I’m on duty at the psychiatric hospital, remembering the times where my grill operator and I dished out some serious beat-downs on asshole customers. Good strike to a knee or arm, then disable them with a blow to the top of the shoulder. Call the cops and be done with it.. unless cops are useless and will take forever, temporarily "handcuff" them with a makeshift hand and leg restraint and ensure they can't get free.. in the meantime, if 911 hasn't been called, call them a d notify them that you have them bound and tied up for everyone's protection and if they try to escape you won't be held liable or accountable for what I MAY have to do in the even that out safety is compromised.
