Carmen Barrett you can claim your losses up to the amount of winnings on your taxes. They’ll send you a W-2G for any amount over 600 to claim on 1040. Also a few banks cash tickets over 501$, it used to be PNC Bank but now I believe People’s in Athens does, or Scioto Downs. There’s a list on the lottery site u see Claiming

About the taxes, i won a claimer earlier this summer and i heard you can write them off with losing lottery tickets. How does that work?

Ya have to file the long form 1040a I believe. Its been a while since I did it, any way theres a deduction for gambling loses and I remember writing Lottery Losers on the tax form you can only claim up to the amount won. So if ya hit a claimer for a thousand you can only deduct a thousand.

You have to file a 1040A or 1040 and use Schedule A, Itemized Deductions. Near the bottom of the A is where you can deduct gambling losses. Losses can only be claimed up to the amount of winnings claimed on the first page of the 1040 or 1040a. If your itemized deductions are less than your standard deduction, then you can't claim losses, as the standard deduction gives you a greater benefit. Edit: As a bit of background, I worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block for 11 years.

In Ohio there is Billy Bob they send ya a 1099G at the end of the year. You can take losers off federal taxes up to the amount won. But you have to pay State taxes in Ohio and City if ya live in a city or town that has income tax
