I've said this a million times hardest bit of our job is hiding & getting cables in it bends my head when the cousomer comes home to see a working socket on the wall & says I didn't think it was such a big job🤯move furniture lift floors run cables in then reinstate the room no such thing as a quick job..well done happy Friday 🍻

You need another apprentice mate, or labourer.

It's when the customer says it's only a hours worth of work why is it so expensive. My answer depends on the mood I'm in good mood and they get a run through of what's req bad mood they get a run through what's req and a extra hour labour cost on top.

Have you considered using the extruded aluminum profiles for the LED lighting strips? It gives a much nicer appearance, the light is more uniform and the LED strips last much longer as they act as a heat sink for the lights. You can get a frosted cover for them, and multiple profiles are available.

A couple of magnets with identified north and south poles would make finding things through ceilings a breeze. Just place one upstairs and then go downstairs with the opposite pole magnet and see where it sticks on the ceiling.

Looks great, I'm sure they will be really happy with it. I wonder if a couple of strong magnets would help locate where you are either side of some plasterboard, you could place one against the ceiling (with a sick or something for easy retrieval) and 'find' it by moving the other one around on the top side under the floorboards.

Guaranteed to get a good video from Nick always varied and interesting stuff whether on site or in the unit, how is it that Artisan has got 250k subs and Nick 100k+ has Artisan still got anyone working for him like Rubuen, Lee and Luke, don't see that many vids from them, anyway Nick stay strong, live long and prosper.

I can’t believe whoever fitted that floor never labelled where the pipes are for the next person to work on it. The pipes just resting on the top of the joists which is a bit of a joke too. It’s all very well burying pipes and wire under those sorts of T&G floors but they are terrible to get back into. Which is a natural occurrence unfortunately. I deal with these ballache jobs all the time mate. Well done for staying calm. 👍🏻

I managed to get a heating pipe in a wall last week, you will appreciate the glorious irony is that I was fixing a Quinetic switch to the wall!!!! (yes, the sticky pads would have saved a lot of hassle!) In this case my assistant kept his finger over the hole while I grabbed a bucket, removed the filling loop from the boiler and opened the valve on the heating pipe side, draining the system down. This limited the water damage to the immediate area. I thought I'd share the trick which works as long as the hole in the pipe is above the filling loop, as the chances of finding a hosepipe, finding a drain point, and connecting in time are virtually zero!

strangely enough, how the DATA was left after this job is how it should have been in the first place. you really should have solid cable with RJ45 ends on it, it should terminate in a patch or socket, like it is now, you then run multistrand patch cable to whatever it is that you are connecting to. you can also get a high density 6 port in a 2 gang socket and I think that they even do an 8 port (and 4 port in single gang) keystone, but you need a much deeper back socket.

The data cable solution at the end looks real neat and tidy...nice! Looked better than the surface mounted 8 Port Patch Panel that I would have thrown at the job. Curiosity question, the are 5 sockets but there was 6 cables. Was one not needed?

Always takes more time than expected when you're trying not to drill through another ceiling and make it look nice. On the upside great job with the data or data. I don't think I've seen a video where you've actually done them do you use a punch down tool or do use the tool that's included with them? That makes a big difference. Or are you using feedthrough Wall plates where you have to crimp on RJ-45 connectors to the cables to plug into the wall plates? Yeah I could see that getting annoying unless you're using the feedthrough RJ-45 connectors and crimpers/cutters.

Easy to under price on ancient properties with a high cottage factor. As someone else suggested the pass through crimpers are far easier to nail 100% success rates day after day. I haven't done them for a few years now and only recently found out there's now cat7 and cat8. Do you install cat6a with EMI shielding as standard or is it all unshielded? Thanks for another banger- did you find any used spoons or other treasures behind the plasterboard💉?

Hi Nick, I hope you read this comment. First of all, I'd like to say I love all of your content, I've watched every single video you put out, I love how you work and your attention to detail, I've even recommended you to a friend of mine for a rewire which he was very happy with. I watch another KZbiner who does great content much like yourself. He's a mobile HGV mechanic from Nottingham, called " Chris Allen - Professional Struggler. " He does not get much sponsorship and always seems down on his luck. This is where I thought you might be able to help. He works hard, and everything he does is for his family. He buys all his clothes from charity shops. He always has a can of monster in his hand which makes him happy, he buys most his tools from car boot sales, and makes do with what he has, I know you recently got some sort of sponsorship from Monster, so I wondered if you could either help him get a sponsorship from them, or if not, maybe donate some of your free monster to him, I know you are trying not to drink the stuff now. I don't want anything from this myself, just it's nice to be nice, and I know you like to help others out too. Also, if you have any free bits and bobs lying around the unit he might benefit from, I'm sure he would be most grateful. I just want to reiterate that I do not know this mechanic personally, I just religiously watch him on KZbin like I watch yourself, I think you are both great, and if you could help him out I'm sure he will be over the moon, I'm not after any recognition, I would just like to see him get some luck to no expense to yourself. I bet once you meet him, you will like him, he is such a jolly character, please watch some of his videos, you'll see what I mean. Thank you, Phil.
