As requested I messaged the seller a link to the video. Unfortunately China blocks access to KZbin so I had to summarise the video and attach images instead. He responded as follows: *Seller* "Hello, is this our accessory? Please don't disassemble the phone casually. Our memory is 8 256GB" *Me* "Yes this phone is from your store. Don't worry disassembly was done professionally and shared with a few hundred thousand people online. As such people are now aware of this scam. The specs of this phone are a lie and misleading to consumers. Shame you cannot visit the link and watch the video. I think you would hate it." *Seller* Hello, we did not cheat, we also raised our doubts *Me* Please elaborate on what you mean by doubts. *Seller* The mobile phone parts you removed. *Me* What about them? Are you aware the real specs of the phone are not what you listed? *Seller* Hello, our mobile phone is exactly what is described on the page. With no admission of guilt from the seller I went about getting my money back. AliExpress wouldn't allow me to open a case against the seller as it had been more than 15 days. So opened a PayPal case and got all my money back excluding return shipping which was about $20. The sellers page has since been removed

These Welcome phones are a huge scam. Every single one lies about the specs. But the IOS inspired interface is pretty convincing, which makes me wonder what could have been if they just went with AOSP or something and just focused on getting that to work well. If probably would've resulted in a better product in the end. And yeah, all the ones I've seen torn down have cutouts or missing components intended for other phones.

No, they want to mimic iPhone, so they can charge more, much more, and people buy thinking it's a cheaper iphone
@Jdbye2 жыл бұрын
@@IsmaelWensder But they're dirt cheap. If they actually had a functional OS for that price (the last one of these I saw crashed constantly) they might have something usable that would make a good first smartphone for a kid or teenager, or for an elderly person who doesn't need much more than calling and maybe Facebook and email. Plus, modifying the OS this heavily isn't cheap, so you wonder if it even pays off.
