Hugos serves are questionable. Kanak is misreading a lot of serves as well. Needs to play against *more* hidden serves to stop looking for Contact only, but also read spin based on the curve, and turn of ball. LGL(head coach of CNT) does hidden serves to some CNT players (theres a clip on YT) to force them to stop looking for contact only, and read the ball itself.

@@PingPongReview The only person that comes to mind who seems to have the cleanest serves is Timo Boll. After that, it would be Vladimir Samsonov or Ma Long for the same reasons, but only when they're serving whilst facing the table. Obviously, there was a reason the ITTF changed the rules. Nobody likes to watch a game where more than 30% of the points won resulted in a non-return. It's certainly boring from a spectator point of view, am I right? Hiding the racquet angle, spin, speed, and position from the opponent is important from the standpoint of how the rally begins and ends. And the advantage gained by the server can be significant considering we're in the era where a set ends at 11 instead of 21. Small return errors can make all the difference from set to set. But just about any pendulum serve I've seen of late has had the "issue" of at least the head blocking the view of the ball or not throwing the ball near vertical, or both, as described in the rules and as interpreted by the official's handbook. And as long as nobody is calling them on it, they continue to push the limits of "legal". Mind you I'm not trying to be overly picky, or "pricky", but if the pros can hit and return a fastball at more than 60 km/hr with reflex times less than half a second and return a ball 20 feet from the table consistently, they can certainly throw a ball vertically and make the ball visible to the opponent at all times. Just my take...
@PingPongReview6 жыл бұрын
Buddy you should start a blog because the peace you have written is really bang on. It is all about pushing the limits of "legal". I have even seen serve calls on the serves of Timo Boll and Ma Long (Lot more on Ma Long). Only Vladimir Samsonov comes to my mind for the cleanest serves in the game. That's why I asked you for upcoming players because everyone does it at the pro level.

@PingPongReview6 жыл бұрын
What do you meant by the environment? Hugo comes from a country with no table tennis history, he can can be someone we can look up to
@michaelryes34626 жыл бұрын
@@PingPongReview I'm not referring to Hugo. I'm referring to his opponent here. The environment that I was talking is that Hugo's environment in table tennis is global where his opponent here is not that yet. Hugo plays against the best in the world where his opponent here has yet to have more of what Hugo has. That's why Hugo got the best of him. If you have that kind of environment in table tennis, competing against the best in the world and having those opportunities, surely your game will also improve to the highest quality as possible.

What rubber is Hugo using, every non Chinese player seems to struggle against it, lots of nets and table misses. All I notice is his opponents looking at their bats, I really wonder how much tuning is still being done. I wonder just how much the new balls play in this, I'm guessing some manufacturers have better rubbers for dealing with this than others, so it will a couple of years before all is equal, in the meantime good players will fall by the wayside or get injured trying to deal with better specked players. ITTF you have just killed a generation of players and injured a ton with the new balls.
@PingPongReview6 жыл бұрын
Tabletennisdaily have done a video with Hugo you can find his equipment details over there. I think increasing the diameter of the ball and changing the material was some steps but we think ball quality is still a big issue even after 4-5 years
