@@vividlyintherain it seems like her entire personality is manufactured to seem that way (her very intro video by the *HYBE* says that she will change the music industry… while she is most likely following a role created by the music industry itself, just like every kpop persona. I highly doubt that companies would just “let their idols be themselves/ be creative” for the sake of it. To me, her acts seem most obviously staged. Of course, she deserves NO HATE just as every other kpop artist, they all have their own public personas to protect. I would go as far to say that some personas are more believable than others, and maybe because of the very fact that she came from the U.S., her persona in particular does not come across as genuine. Of course she wants to break the norms, international/american fans are usually the ones who care about breaking the norms. It irks me that people genuinely believe she just convinced these multimillionaire companies to let her be herself. Like cmon guys, they know that’s what will sell. But that’s just my take on it and even though I am not a fan I respect her just as much as any other artist in kpop.

I'm just a casual listener of Le sserafim but it breaks my heart to see all the hate, harassment and bullying they're receiving. I'm thankful that Yunjin was able to create this song as a reminder for us that idols are humans too just like us. We demand them to such high standards that I'm pretty sure we can't even achieve ourselves. The pressure that they have to go through to become perfect singers, perfect dancers, perfect rappers, perfect performers with perfect personalities, flawless beauty just so as to be worthy to be called "idols". It's so easy for us to bully/hate/harass them online while we conveniently hide behind "anonymity" yet act surprised/worried when idols take hiatus or worse, commit sui**de. We pick and choose their imperfections then crucify them like they just committed such a heinous crime. The constant pressure for them to bring revenue to their companies, the struggle to have creative freedom over their crafts, the limitation to express their thoughts and opinions so as not to offend others, the sacrifices just to maintain their body image, the endurance to keep smiling despite all the hate & criticisms, going through all that but also trying not to lose themselves in the process. I just hope we be kinder and more empathetic to all idols, especially female idols. Idols are not our dolls. We don't get to demand or even tell them what they can or cannot do. We don't own them. To Le sserafim, I hope you all feel the love of the real people around you. You all can overcome this. I hope you can learn and improve at your own pace. All of you are unique and special. You are all amazing and I look forward to seeing more music & performances from you. I'll keep cheering on you girls!

A female idol finally speaking out? YES! In all my years of being a Kpop stan, this is exactly what I've been waiting for. I'm just really really happy to see this. Completely raw emotions and the truth- not sugarcoated words along with the braveness to speak out not being afraid of backlash from a misogynistic community. This is perfection. A 4th gen idol speaking out on the hardships of being an idol with raw emotions and not a fake cheeriness or feigning a state of being fine. Yes. We're slowly but eventually getting to the point where fans learn that idols are humans with emotions too, not dolls. Thank you for this, Yunjin. This was much needed.
