Thank you for tuning in.
I've begun a series in which I will be doing SILENT REVIEWS of various items and equipment which I have found to be superior to the competition.
We begin with the Hultafors Hultan Ax.
At the cost of around €100 or $100, it isn't necessarily for the beginner. However, if you choose to purchase it, you will be content that you spent your money well. It is not a beast, but rather a light weight axe which can be used while hiking, trekking, and for basic camping chores. The balance is so good that it feels like an extension of your arm.
This axe, as well as all of those from Hultafors, is manufactured at Hults Bruk, which is famous for their axes, and have been making them since 1697. That's quite a history of quality craftsmanship. You can't go wrong with this model, unless of course you want something to fell trees or split logs. I would then advise you to research some of their other models.
The link for the axe is below, as well as links for most of the gear I use; just in case someone might be interested. I get no kickbacks, discounts, nor sponsorships for any of these. I just believe in promoting businesses that do right by their clients and offer quality products.
Thank you for joining me on this one, and I hope to see you all again real soon.
Get Wild and Stay Sane
Sincerely,
William

For me the biggest selling point is the way Hultafors fasten the head to handle. With soft wedge and hollow nail. The amount of variaty of axes, i choce carpenters axe, but they sell competition, splitting mauls and many of types of axes. Even axe brille or axes for log cabin builds. Great company, good healthy roots. Much love, Thomas.

New out of the box these come with a horrible grind, like the one in this video, first thing I did to mine was fix the profile of the grind, but they are beautiful axes 👍

Lovely video. Thank you. Can I ask, what have you put on your handle? Boiled linseed?
@thewildernessphilosopher
@thewildernessphilosopher 5 ай бұрын
Thanks very much. All of Hultafors ' axes come with the handles already pretreated with, yes, linseed oil. I have not retreated it yet, but I will use the same when it's time.

Looks great! Is it suitable for carving?
@thewildernessphilosopher
@thewildernessphilosopher 5 ай бұрын
It could probably be used for such, but I believe it is probably not thin enough for carving detail. If I remember correctly, Hultafors also makes a carving axe/hatchet.

Nice to see a video without a bearded, tattooed prepper, mouthing off about their worthless opinion. Thank you. 🧔 👍 And yes I too have a beard but the hole in it stays shut till I have words of value.

Not good for heavy tasks……… wish I saw this video before using a hatchet this size to chop log on two sides to clear a dirt road in Idaho. All while Debbie watched mind you. All I had in my recovery tool bag was the hatchet. Could have used an axe…….
