One of the reason why RD Burman is immortal. This song was recorded when most of the musicians were on strike and only Lataji and Kishoreji landed up in the studio. RD was so confident with his composition that he wanted to record the song and he did it even with very few musicians. When you listen to this song, you will find that apart from the train’s whistle and a synthesizer for rhythm and little strings, there is absolutely no music whatsoever. Rest is history.

It is said that during the recording of this song most musicians were absent and the recording was decided to be postponed but Pancham, the maestro had other plans. He recorded the song without the counter music of the keyboard and that of the orchestra of violins. Hear the song and you shall understand how amazing this song became after that.
