Thanks for reviving memories. MCC was also perhaps the only program where the elders also watched with us because there was only PTV and the time was 10pm. Every week, there was a new song. One time, there was loadshedding (unfortunately, like now). Next day I went to school and there was a huge buzz around this new song, people said someone was singing very fast. Next week, the song was at number one (if memory serves me well). It was Fakhr-e-Alam's bhangra pao. Fakhar also started hosting MCC, people forget but he was a huge celebrity at that time. My friend went to meet him at an event in Rawalpindi and Fakhar was pushed around so much that he fell down. MCC had a song "Jaago" by the band Jazba. That song has stood the test of time. Someone on youtube used recent footage with that song in background, the song has dated really well. They eventually did a "Top 20 of all time" since MCC started. And "Peera Ho" by Khalid Anam was at number one. MCC songs create crazy nostalgia in me. Milestones, Sequences, Fringe Benefits...

Combine broadcast system was the trail blazer of private TV and Music Production in Pakistan in late 1980s. Hats Off to Ghazanfar Ali. I always wondered why nobody has ever appreciated the role of Ghazanfar sahib in shaping the private TV industry and development of TV in Pakistan in general. Thanks for doing this podcast.

Mazaaa aagaya. I was never exposed to stn or the music charts as I was in dubai during my childhood but when i came to university in Karachi, indus music was my go to channel cz it represented the youth at the time. Kya waqt thaa woh bhee. Thank you for reminiscing these old memories and yes we need to appreciate our history.

When Edhi was at the tender age of eleven, his mother became paralysed and later got mentally ill. Young Abdul Sattar devoted himself for looking after all her needs; cleaning, bathing, changing clothes and feeding. This proved to be a loosing battle against the disease, and her helplessness increased over the years. Her persistent woeful condition left a lasting impression on young Edhi. The course of his life took a different turn from other persons of his age. His studies were also seriously affected and he could not complete his high school level. For him the world of suffering became his tutor and source of wisdom.

I remember Indus Music was a lifeline during my school years. There were so many brilliant musicians and bands that were introduced through that channel. Rage band’s Chand Se Chehron, Saraab’s Jeena Mera video with the tragic love story .. so many other memories of Nini, Sanam and Anisa, Dino… each VJ had their own flavour. Indus Tv had some great dramas and content too. My mother had a strict no Indian content rule in our house so we’d consume everything on Indus Music. This show induced nostalgia. Had heard Ghazanfer Ali’s name in so many interviews but never knew what he looked like. Thanks for paying tribute to him and showing his face. A big thanks to him for making my school and college years so special with his channel. 🎉
