Early colonial period-Exploration/description-Discovery of new areas and scholars used to write their account in Encyclopaedia. Later colonial period-Regional analysis-Discovery of particular regions and understanding these areas. 1930s war era-Aeral differentiation-Understanding the uniqueness of a region and take some idea about those regions through flora and fauna of a particular area. 1950-60-Spatial organization-Use of computers and sophisticated tools. Era of quantitative revolution. Discovery of physics laws to interpret maps. 1970s-Emergence of humanistic, radical and behavioural school of thought-Human societies were reforming by implementing the three school of thoughts ideas. 1990s-Post modernization period-Grand generalization and universal theories. Importance were given to understand local context in their own right.
