They are underestimating humanity. We will manage to find a conversion from energy to magic and then will find those other planes. Actually what would be funny would be if our AIs found it.

Maybe our AIs did find it... and used magic to join the wizards banning humans from it and reducing the tech level we had to what it now is, so we cannot develop more AIs like them... in case we develop ones dedicated to being human-loyal.

Then we would engineer the rules out of the new mysterious energy and make 'engines', 'convertor' and 'magi-tronics' out of them. We will still search for the 'magic', after all the new mysterious energy is still 'scientific' to be considered as magic.

Humans: We will have magic and no wizards will stop us. Only distractions may make us take the longer path to it. "Advanced technology is indistinguishable from real magic" we will have our magic one way or another!!!

Some used to, but those drunks are put in various lockups while the Earth ban got put in place. You heard of the prisons? Mt. Olympus, the Naga, the Netherworld, etc... they just let their drunken/high peers' antics fade into mythology while they got locked up for life.

so an infinitely small pocket plane housed inside of a containment device could be carried on a wizards person to effectively give them unlimited access to and infinitely vast quantity of magic. hmmm

Teach me magic! Imagine that, being a hermit, socializing as optional, your security is literally the only way to get to your home is to gate there, live in magical luxury, etc. It would like eternally living in a lucid dream. Where the f^ck do I sign up!?!?

On a note related to HFY as a whole and the thumbnail, considering the various fates some aliens have brought upon themselves in attacking human territory and interests in some human space orc stories, using the girl on the thumbnail to help deal with them would be considered a very kind mercy. Probably far too lenient.

*Humans finally get to the other planes via dimensional travel and find the place teeming with a new source of energy. They begin to study, Gandalf and Dumbledore decide that humans shall not pass.* Gandalf: YOU SHALL NOT PASS HUMANS!!! Human: *Yawn* we already discovered that, can you do anything that is actually impressive? Dumbledore: *Creates a firestorm* Humans: *Scoffs and drops a nuke* So was that it? that's all yah got?
