Song that began my life-long love of Nik's music in '83... First time that I've seen the video for it!

My fav Nik K song ...... in 1984, so many years ago now. I remember he sang “I won’t let the sun go down on me” in 1983. The only way he could have done that is to have spent the last half century circling the world in a jet at 1000mph. Perhaps that’s why he hasn’t troubled the hit parade since then.

The modulation in this track is sublime. The little rhythmic ostinato chugging away in the background is catharsis. The lyrics are profoundly enigmatic. It's Samuel Beckett in pop form.

A gem of a song. The music really hit me when I first heard it, and over the years, the lyrics completely hit home.

Cannot believe I am the first to comment on the is track!? If you're so inclined, forget the visual ethos of the time - stop & listen to the music here. Update each 80s synth line in your head if you have to - the polyphonic musicianship is truly superb. Thought it then & still think it now. Thanks Nik for continuing to be an honest musician, I for one appreciate it!

With songs like these, I was always listening to the music, which I why a little later on, I went to listening to instrumentals, e.g., Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, etc. Now, I am listening to the lyrics, and boy, I wish I had listened to them then and made sense of them.

Cute girl on my bus loaned me a Nik Kershaw tape as a kid. Her name was Katherine, Katie for short. Her mother was Bahá'í. Solve for bus.
