NOOO THE CHESS SCENE WHERE THERE THERE WAS A KING AND A PAWN IN FRONT OF EACH OTHER BCS THE KING CAN KILL THE PAWN BUT THE PAWN CAN’T KILL THE KING DESPITE THEM BEING RELATIVELY WEAK PIECES ON THEIR OWN IS AHDKWKJSJS I have coherent thoughts about the chess symbolism but im not gonna get to that rn (Edit 2 weeks later) IM GONNA GET INTO IT ok so at around 1:52 the chess scene starts, both bill and ford open up their queen and their white bishop for attacking. The important thing to note here is that ford is playing as the white pieces, so he gets the first turn. Now this might symbolize how in the beginning, ford was the first to contact bill and bill was matching what he wanted in order to manipulate ford. At around 1:54 ford has more powerful pieces placed in the front than bill (he has two knights ready for action while bill has more pawns in the front and only one knight), but bill has even less powerful pieces in the back that he can use (he only has one bishop able to get on the battlefield) what this play is called but this very obviously symbolizes (to me at least) how much more willing and open ford was with his feelings than bill. At 1:56 it immediately jumps to the end of the game, and while I figure the actual purpose is because the instrumental bit ends there, i’d like to add another reason that bill’s manipulation and victory over ford was quick, but costly and while he ended up taking all of ford’s important pieces (his brain/resources) ford also took all of his important pieces (getting emotionally involved w/ ford.) The fact that the king and the pawn were chosen is interesting, because as i said before, both are relatively weak pieces. The king can only move one space and capture in one space, and it must be protected or else the game ends. Bill being represented as the king is especially interesting because it insinuates that bill doesn’t actually have much power, even though he is incredibly important to the story and the story ends when he is beaten. Not much to say about ford being the pawn, it’s sort of obvious tbh. The placement of the pawn and the king is probably the most important thing about this scene, because while they are both directly in front of each other and have the same amount of power, bill has the ability to take ford’s last piece. Now I don’t say win, because bill’s already won. He took ford’s king, which means the game is over. But i guess he feels the need to prove he still has power over ford and that he can’t just leave.

That dance sequence was amazing dude. Best Humans Touch animatic I seen. The song is pretty damn fitting for Bill’s and Ford’s relationship from what we’ve seen in the show and in the books. Bill needs a (“humans touch”) to make a deal in order to get what he desire’s and Ford he is an actual human with actual needs. Bill only gave Ford what he thought he wanted although in the end Bill didn’t do it for Ford, Bill done everything for himself. Not only is Bill a narcissist and self centered he is also a different being. Their relationship was doomed hardcore since the beginning.

At first, the relationship was very much one sided, then it was recipeocated especially when they did kareoke, but Bill’s need for the portal was stronger, then Bill realized that he needed Ford in more ways than just a partner when he went to therapy (He realized fully that he and Ford will never work together when Ford disregarded the deal)
