The Supreme Court Cases of R V Zora and R V Antic made fundamental changes to how Canada handles bail and raised the bar significantly when it comes to keeping (even violent and dangerous offenders) on bail while awaiting trial. Trudeau's 'Catch and release' is a Political slogan that serves the aspirations of the Conservative party, it doesn't accurately describe the situation. You can go read the cases or go find summaries or find a YT clip discussing them. Or continue to let a Political party manipulate you. The SCC Jordan ruling is also why hundreds of cases in Canada have been dropped for taking too long. Ontario dismissed 59 rape cases in 2023 alone because it took over 18 months. Thankfully the underfunded Courts with long backlogs are getting an additional 29 million dollars to hire some staff to hopefully stop letting alleged rapists and murderers off while Ontario spends 225 million dollars to get out of a contract 12 months early in order for convenience stores to sell booze.

I just saw a video on TT about West Edmonton Mall. A Dad waited outside the womens bathroom while his 8 yr old was inside. She was taking longer than usual, so he poked his head in and called for her. All of a sudden, 2 asian women came out pushing a stroller with a blanket covering it. The Dad recognized his daughters shoe peaking out!!! These 2 women drugged his daughter, shaved her head, and shoved her in a stroller to abduct her in a matter of minutes!!!
