@simply the best Through the years, Dave's voice has gone through a few phases... During the 80s, he mostly crooned and sounded boyish. During the Devotional Tour (1993-1995), he started abusing steroids, which made his voice huskier and louder. During the Singles Tour, Exciter, and PTA (1997-2006), he still sounded raspier and harder, but improved his head voice and vocal range with the help of a coach After getting a nodule recording Sounds of the Universe (2009-Present), Dave took to a more nasal voice to minimize further damage to his vocal chords, which is why he tends to sound different these days

@@0mik3mik3 probably because that person who claimed that is probably making shit up. dave was certainly abusing heroin and other hard drugs during that period, but i've never heard anything about him taking steroids... for what, exactly? the guy was never buff or ripped. and i highly doubt it 'made' his voice sound like that, it was just where his voice had evolved to at the time - and i absolutely agree, it's the best his voice has ever sounded. considering the stuff he's been through it's a miracle he can still sing so well, but just listen to how he performs songs like 'i feel you' now compared to in 1993/94 and the difference is night and day, he sounds absolutely terrible singing some of their older songs these days
