I've been saying this for the past 6 or so years: There may be a better trombonist out there. Van Rijen comes to mind. As a composer, Verhelst does very neat compositions featuring brass instruments - e.g. I LOVE the Devils' Waltz. There may be better arrangers, and when it comes to multi-track, multi-camera virtual quartets and quintets, Christopher Bill is certainly very good, but in my opinion Ricardo Molla Albero is right there with anyone doing any of these things I mentioned. Great trombonist, wonderful arranger and composer, features the brass family like this piece. Does it all, and does it with a sense of humor. I've been playing trombone since I was about 10 (60 years ago or so) - not so well these days - but I still love it - and this young man is my favorite total musician on the instrument. I'm a complete fan. I'd love to send my (bass) trombonist grandson for a lesson (he graduates University of North Texas this Spring). Love this piece. Forwarded it to my tuba playing son, and his tuba playing son.
