I mean, technically most of the oxygen we get on the planet is from algae, so more likely there's an entire field of algae somewhere that's made the air these people breathe and the field also deserves an apology.

Actually trees were first... It's animals that work tirelessly to produce carbon dioxide for trees. Trees just release oxygen as a byproduct of it's metabolism during photosynthesis.

What he was attempting to split was also elevated too much. Anything that large should be closer to the ground. Also, if it resists splitting you're not striking it it where the grain wants to split, and you're wasting energy. Also, I don't know what exactly he was using, but it wasn't a traditional splitting maul, and it looked brand new, just like his suspenders and haircut. Must be a TikTok "influencer". He should stay in the gym.

Not sure why he was trying to split such a large piece down the middle. It's far easier to take pieces off the edges if the goal is to make firewood.

With the mass a tree that size has, he would have been much better just getting out of the way, instead of attempting to get crushed. Especially near the point of pivot, any force he puts in will be completely negligible.

@@bobmcl2406 i teach engineering and have to teach several health and safety units: whenever you read things like "not for human consumption" it is often in response to someone eating it in the past, with the warning added later to avoid a potential lawsuit. So, whenever i see a sign that says "x can kill you" then i blame people instead of the manufacturer. World we live in 😅

One year, here in Pennsylvania, USA, we had a pretty severe blizzard, like 3’ (or a meter for those who don’t speak Freedom Units) of snow, and while I was shoveling, I noticed my douchebag neighbors tree was about to come down on his new truck he was so proud of. I knocked on the door to warn him, he laughed me off, aaaaaaand…. That truck went to destination fucked!

I always love the tree-felling clips where one guy is holding a rope attached to the tree to make it fall in the right direction. As if a 130-pound man is going to exert any influence at all on a six-ton tree.

I'm an arborist in Florida. We have big huntsman spiders too, but I've never seen one in a tree. I have seen, snakes, lizards, rats, squirrels, hawks, wasps (got hit 6 times today doing palms), ants, poisonous tree frogs, sugar gliders, opossum, raccoon, scorpions, and poisonous caterpillars. If it's that bad here, I couldn't imagine climbing in Australia.

As an arborist with 15+ years of experience I can the only thing more dangerous than a ladder is a half price harry with a saw ( I’m in the tree in my picture trimming over power lines)

I saw a small 2 bedroom home for sale that was reasonably priced AND I wondered why it was priced the way it was.... I visited the property and found that 3 huge trees were leaning over the house and it looked like if someone were to sneeze the trees would collapse the whole place down... yeah, no deal.

Step one of climbing a ladder to cut a tree is to physically attach the ladder to the tree so it cant leave the situation without you.
