“I did not know a single soul when I came into this city. Growing up, to the credit of my father and grandfather, I imbibed a lot of political and academic talks as a young mind. My mother was an artist and a Bollywood buff who opened a new horizon for me.
For the first 4-5 years of my professional life, I worked as a freelance cameraperson. Then I started shooting documentaries for myself, covering a war-torn Afghanistan through my lens. One near-death incident made me realize the powerful medium that Bollywood is. Since then, I wanted to tell my story on a celluloid through the silver screen. I came to Mumbai in 2001. I had written a script of my experiences in Afghanistan that somehow landed up in the office of Yash Raj Productions.
Out of the blue, I got a call from one of the receptionists at their office to come and meet Mr. Aditya Chopra. I frankly thought that this was a prank done by my wife, Mini Mathur who then used to be with the popular MTV Show : The Bakra with VJ Cyrus Broacha.
I visited the YRF office the next day and to my surprise met the man, the myth, the legend - Aditya Chopra. He looked at me and said, ‘Hey Kabir! I really liked your script. When can you begin filming it?’
Presenting to you, the Director, the filmmaker, the husband and the father Kabir Khan. From being an extra in 'Gandhi', to meeting Nelson Mandela and doing his research in the Mecca of Cricket, he lived life on the edge while pursuing his passion.

About Humans of Bombay -
Humans of Bombay is a movement that started 8 years ago. We believe that every person has a story to tell and we want to help them tell these stories. In these years we’ve published stories across genres - stories of love, hope, faith and courage. And through our storytelling, we’ve built an engaged community of over 4.5M!
Our idea is simple - to strike a chord with our community and catalogue the beat of humanity, one story at a time.
