i used to fear guitar electronics thanks to you it's all simple and i'm encouraged to try mood now thanks a lot for these videos keep it up!

I just want to say thank you! I spent all day today trying to figure out how to wire my guitar the way I wanted. I wanted series on the push, and parallel on the pull. I wired it 3 different ways according to 3 different diagrams, and this video is the only method which produced the results i was looking for. The other configurations had parallel on the push and series on the pull. THANK YOU

Very good explanation! 👍🏼 After trying different wirings with no success, I finally found your video! I want the push-pull pots as volume and the simple pots as tone, so this video helps a lot! Thank you very much!!

Also, I'd like to point out that while the resistance may read extremely low in parallel mode (mine comes in around 2.35k), the perceived volume will not be significantly less than the pickup in series mode. It's definitely brighter, but I'd say it retains about 60-75% of the volume.

Brilliant video! Is it possible to wire a push/pull coil split AND a switch for S/P? I'd like to do something like this on bass. Thanks!

This is super. I have one question mainly... how to wire up twin Humbuckers with 1 tone and 1 volume pots both push pull CTS pots. Seen your video on twins on a LP style with 4 pots but how about only when the 1 vol push pull and 1 tone push pull. I have tried using 2 diagrams and nothing working but this is the most similar in terms of which wire goes to which terminal. Thanks 🙏🏻

Can you do a video of push pull pot used to phase shift (2 x Seymour Duncan humbuckers) in Les Paul Bridge Volume pot? I have classic push pull pot and difficulties to understand how it should connected. Thanks 😇

I'm looking to do a master coil split for 2 humbuckers for the sole purpose of getting the two outer coils split in parallel sound on the middle position on a 3 way toggle switch. Is there anything different I have to do or will putting a push pull for both humbuckers get me that tone anyways?

I have two guitars to do both 2x humbuckers, but one is two volume with one push pull tone and three way switch, and the other one volume and one tone push pull. Both same push pull set up you have there, (I have the pots to do them) what wiring, and capacitors and any thing else do I need and what easy to follow wiring diagram can I follow to do these two guitars, I'm crap with electronics but better with the building guitars. (My pick ups are iron gear hammers on one and iron gear hot slags on the other)

I'm looking at the wiring diagram I got off Seymour Duncan's Website for S/P with a push pull volume pot and it is different. Now I'm a little confused.

Which position would you use this parallel pickup, in the bridge or in the neck position?

Is it possible to wire the bridge humbucker to a tone push pull pot instead of the volume push pull pot?

A “series” of diagrams?? I see what you did there! Thanks for another awesome video. Now how does switching to parallel affect the hum-cancelling quality of the pickup?
@SixStringSupplies5 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question! Parallel mode is still hum-cancelling.

If the output is lower in parallel and then the volume reduces when you switch to parallel, is it possible to wire some output reducing circuit into the series circuit? Thus equalising the output between series and parallel. Then you can just crank up the amp and switch between series and parallel without having to adjust the volume on the guitar.
@beakmann3 жыл бұрын
Good idea! I think a resistor could be added between the output in parallel position (terminal 1) and ground the achieve this.

Thank you so much for posting this video! Honestly, I find your videos to be among the most helpful out there. Do you have any issues with hum or static with the wire you are using? If not, can you post what kind you are using? I am wiring a Gretsch (on a template, not actually in the guitar yet) and find there is much more static than I expected and it seems signal may be interfering with other strands within the wire.
@SixStringSupplies4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words Joe 🙏 use braided or shielded cable where possible. No issue to use pvc or cloth wire for short connections, but for long connections, best to use shielded cable. Thanks again

Hello i just bought 2 of these pots for new guitar builds but after following all instructions i just can’t get the sound right… looks like i have a blanket and a gate on my sound. I tried the same pickups on a traditional volume pot and sounds like it should be… Is there something i should know about these specific pots ? I’m kinda bummed mostly after testing 2 identical volume pots to get the same issue…

How would this differ if you wanted your tone pots to be your Push Pull? I have a Tele Deluxe that I'm trying to wire with push pulls for series/parallel on the tone pots. Every diagram I look at is different

Just curious but why is there no jumper included in the diagrams on your site but there is one showing on this video? I'm confused lol

why doesn't anyone ever tell you whether it's a volume or tone pot? that's what confuses everyone. Is this a volume pot or tone?
@thearabianmage4 жыл бұрын
Brian Cananzey it’s the same thing. A volume becomes a tone when you wire a capacitor in the lug you’d normally solder onto the pot itself.

Great tutorial Not to rag on you, but as a musician, and video producer... Maybe you've noticed the insane volume difference between your intro music and your voice track. Super annoying to watch your videos! Most places here in NA have insulated wire in many options, is there a benefit to using bare wire and then using an open flame around all those delicate components? Not trolling... Asking!
@SixStringSupplies4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’ve noticed. Especially through headphones. Recent videos it has been toned down a bit.
